7 games on your remaster list

Postby Achtung Englander » Sat Sep 10, 2016 10:23 am

Taking a cue from Eurogamer

I am sure Mirror's Edge or Mass Effect require a remaster

Here are my 7 (games I have played)

Medal Of Honor Allied Assault (change nothing just reskin it and make it look lovely. Imagine how bastard sniper town will be then !)
Call Of Duty (again change nothing especially one shot kill)
Far Cry (up to the bit when the monsters are out)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl
Caesar III
Stronghold
Mafia
Games playing : Syndicate / Valiant Hearts (XBO) / Warp

I guess games I really like but look so appalling now it's quite hard to enjoy them. Or those with great ideas and ambitions slightly hampered by what the tech of the time could achieve.

Thus:

Anachronox
Beyond Good & Evil
Deus Ex
Vampire: Bloodlines
Syndicate
Gothic (and the sequel)
Ultima 7 maybe?

I'd agree certainly with Mafia as well, just wanted to add new games to the discussion.
My face is tired.

I'm a bit fed up of remasters to be honest. Would rather that studios and publishers put more effort into coming up with something original.

I guess a remaster of a classic is still preferable to half the AAA dross that gets churned out nowadays though. The original Call of Duty isn't a bad shout. A couple of others that could be alright:

Battlefield 1942
Black & White
Diablo 2 & Expansion
Deus Ex
Ground Control
Tekken 3

Syndicate and Vamp Bloodlines are great shouts.

Id get so hyped for.....
Hunter Hunted
C&C1 / RA1
Elastomania
Wing Commander Armada
Iwar2
Starlancer
Mechwarrior 2

Oh and Universe at War not because it is in any way bad looking or playing but because it deserves another chance to not die on the sword of GFWL. ;)

System Shock 2 would have been but its coming so its not just a hope they dont fuxk it.

I'd probably just start shouting "Monolith!" over and over. Pick any game from their catalogue and I'd be happy with a remake/remaster of it.

Would also like to see some of io's older games given a spruce up. The first two Hitman games and Freedom Fighters are too good to leave floundering on wonky, incompatible engines.

Other than those, everything else that's been mentioned so far would be great. :-k

Actually, NOLF 1 & 2 would be great shouts.

X-com series (so I'm cheating here :P )
Iwar 2
Mechwarrior series (Again cheeating)
Ultima VII
Blood
Heavy Gear series
Hostile Waters

I'm not so burned out on remasters since they've been doing it to the games I had no interest in the first place so give me the ones that are interesting.

OH and everyone's list at that too. Watching NOLF on Twitch in the wee hours has been a great laugh for me.

TIE Fighter - any of the single-player X-Wing series really)
Battlezone - I know they released an HD-remastering earlier this year, but it'd be nice to have an entirely new graphics engine rather than polishing the 19 year old one
Descent
Heavy Gear
Knights of the Old Republic - I've never actually played it, and it's positively archaic these days without the nostalgia
MechWarrior 3 - 2 was brilliant of course, but I liked the continuous story and salvage system of 3 more
Jedi Knight

Vietcong - redone on an engine that can handle tons of foliage would be awesome. Would have to leave in the cringy dialogue though.
Hidden & Dangerous 2 - this with polished up graphics and no other changes would be amazing.
Terminator: Future Shock - if this was redone with one of the new Far Cry engines and make it semi open world...dang!
Thief 1 & 2 - again just revamp the graphics and leave everything else the same.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - this with the new Doom engine and with nothing else changed.
Crimson Skies - amazed this hasn't been done yet.
Sin -but keep it cheesy .

I have to agree with mantis really. I'd prefer see some new stuff hitting the design boards. I was struggling to think of any but yeah Beyond Good and evil would probably top any list I can come up with.

You have no idea how hard it was to list only 7. Left out Midtown Madness, microsoft's first really good game along with the first Age of Empires game. Then there is Beyond Good & Evil, NOLF. Sooo many.

Great Naval Battles: North Atlantic
Blade Runner
Gothic 2
Morrowind
Thief 2
Geoff Crammonds Formula 1 Grand Prix 2
Total Annihilation
Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm"

The warrior whispers back "I am the storm"

Like Jez and Mantis I would prefere to see new stuff, but I don't mind some of the really old games being remastered, especially as some of them are a struggle to get running now. It's the games that came out a few years ago being given remakes that annoys me.

Anyway a lot of the stuff I'd like to see has already been listed before, but off the top of my head my seven would probably be.

Diablo
Ocarina of Time (I know it was sort of done for the 3DS, but I would like to see a proper version on a console)
Red Alert 2
Tie Fighter
Dungeon Keeper
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Magic Carpet

Freelancer
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
KotOR 2
GTA Vice City
CoD MW2
Age of Empires
Doom

Also I wish they would make a decent Force Unleashed game. It can't be that hard.
