Favourite Game Cover Art

Postby Stormbringer » Fri Apr 29, 2016 12:44 pm

We've probably done this before, but who cares?

Just to be clear, we're not interested in the covers of your favourite games, only your favourite artwork. Sometimes you might like an artwork BECAUSE you like the game, which is understandable, but try to focus solely on the art itself. My favourite ever has always (well, since 1995 anyway) been this one:

WITCHAVEN II: BLOOD VENGEANCE

So freakin' metal. Looks like it might be one of Frank Frazetta's paintings. Anyone know if that's the case? I've never actually played the game, though!

The first Monkey Island box was one of my favourite covers when I was a kid.

I haven't really considered box art for quite a while, largely because with the exception of a small handful of Wii U games, I've hardly bought any physical copies of games in years. However;

XCom 2's is so wonderfully sinister, especially within the context of the game's story.

I remember just admiring the artwork as a kid. I didn't have CV for the NES so I'm not sure if it's basically that artwork just re-jigged, but it's still ace.

These guys are my childhood and this cover art is just burned into my eyes.

The pinnacle for me.

Me has got one of my picks. The cover for Doom is one of the best.
Haha. First thing I'll do once I get my copy of Doom 2016 is switch the cover around

Also, man, the Doom Guy had one hell of a hair style.

Good call on Doom, Me.

Mantis, as you know I've not been in the computer/video game scene for many years, but I assume Hotline Miami was an online-only release? I can't imagine that cover being on store shelves.

I don't think a full copy of the cover was available, but GAME definitely had PSN codes for the game with at least some of the artwork on their shelves.

Hexen and Heretic, both old Doom games with a fantasy bent. Never really took off as a genre, pity.

I know both of those, but I have never seen that particular HERETIC cover before.

Yeah, now you mention it Heretic normally had the trident thing.

Bit like that
