Gamescom 2015 - 1st Week in August

Postby Medicine Man » Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:19 pm

E3 done and dusted. Make way for Gamescom!

http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/gamescom/index-9.php

Sony wont be there of course they've decided to wait until Paris Games Week in October or some such nonsense to spunk their next load.

However Microsoft will be there with Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound. All will be shown apparently.

Their press conference will take place August 4, 4:00pm CEST (10:00am ET/7:00am PT).

Anyone going? I seem to remember Herr Englander bringing us back some nice pics last year.

Never heard of any of those games let alone be wondering what they'll show of them :)

Really? That's a bit baffling. Then again, the console crowd here is small, the Xbox One users smaller still. :-k

Goes without saying that I'm very excited to see the Microsoft show!

I'm interested to see what Blizzard talk about. With them setting aside time for the WoW expansion reveal and with plenty of other time to talk about stuff at Gamecom I wonder if that will leave them space to announce something new at Blizzcon.

Ooh nice, I was hankering after some nice light RTS gaming the other day.

Though I'd still prefer a C&C Generals 2 ¬_¬

so was at the MS press conference today and have to admit all the Win 10 bit had me jizz my pants. Post conference I saw Forza getting streamed wireless to a Surface and the latency was zero. It was superb.

Got a free copy of Rare Replay and another 16Gb HALO flash drive...........which was nice. (Still waiting for the biggie freebies they stop doing nowadays)

By the end of the presentation I was being to fall asleep when they did the HALO e-sports thing with Arena. Said to my boss I am feeling old - I just don't get it

Post conference did some Xbox gaming open to invitees. The most impressive game so far, in terms of new tech, has been Crackdown 3. The cloud based processing is simply brilliant. The environmental damage on that game looks amazing because they showed the game running of 10 servers, so it can remember and do so much more than playing on one system. This is the sort of thing that really impressed me.

Tomorrow is business day which means I will be walking the floor because Thursday onwards is open day and NO WAY AM I FIGHTING MY WAY THROUGH 80,000 SMELLY GERMANS :x

Will post E3 photos next week when back home

Might take some snaps tomorrow

My issue with Crackdown 3 is that if everything is destructible how on earth do you do missions? Surely it just comes down to destroying the buildings the bad guys are in every time? Yes it is impressive, but I'm not sure it will lead to a fun gaming experience. The only way I can see around it is that certain buildings are rendered indestructible for a period of time due to some device that the enemy has, once disabled you can destroy the building. But something like that feels so contrived and stupid.

Just to chime in as a lame Remedy fan-boy and Xbox One owner, but Quantum Break looks amazing. The skills and tools it gives you reminds me of something like Vanquish. Sure, you could play it like a cover shooter, but why do that when there's all the mechanics you could need to go incredibly stylish.

Also, with the casting, you can pretty much guess that Same Lake is really in to The Wire and Game of Thrones. :-k
