It's the Homefront brand, it's toxic.

Is that sarcasm Dj :P

I was really into the game before the launch. World In conflict had the same idea but pulled it off way better from making a interesting game out of it :)

So another one has left the company, Mike Read who was the producer for both Crysis 3/Ryse. Has now changed his profile to be "a former producer for Crytek" on twitter.

Read, responding to a fan query on Twitter, stated that he wished he could have done more with Crysis 3. "Some amazing tech behind it for sure," he said. "Wish we could have done more on many fronts."

Well they seem to be out of the woods for now as they have secured additional funding and explained that they couldn't be more forthcoming with their financial situation earlier as it would have jeopardised any attempts to get more funding. So it looks like things are back on track, but I think the raft of departures from Crytek UK will have put a serious dent in the development of Homeland 2.

Wonder how much they paid for it though. Couple of million? would have to be be at least a million to have Crytek start paying their staff again since they have under a 1,000 of them.

They were already co-publishing the game so it makes sense that they took over the IP if they feel they can still make money from it. I doubt they paid that much for it as Crytek were unlikely to be able to continue developing it as they hardly had any staff left at the UK arm. They have subsequently closed the Crytek UK with most of the staff who were left moving over to the new Deep Silver studio that is developing Homefront.

Crytek US has also had to close as most of the senior management at that studio quit a week ago and development of Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age has been moved to the Frankfurt office.

Crytek have also lost their chief graphics engineer, Tiago Sousa, who moved to id recently. So they have lost a lot of talent over a short space of time. Hopefully they have learned that expanding as much as they did as quickly as they did and without releasing many games is not a sound business plan. They can probably turn it around if they just focus on a few games and few studios.

Turns out we will get to see more Ryse as Crytek are porting the game to the PC. The PC version will feature 4K support and include all the DLC.

"4K gaming is another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers and Ryse is the perfect showcase for what's now possible in high-end PC games," Crytek business development chief Carl Jones said.

"We've given our team the opportunity to show what CryEngine can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers. Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future. Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible."

Is Ryse actually shit? All I've seen of it was when they said there would be no QTEs then filling the E3 video with QTEs.

I think it's a pretty standard game, fun in places, but not amazing.

Long and detailed interview with Cevat Yeril.

I think he comes across as pretty genuine and they seem to have tried to do right by their employees over the last few months despite what others have said.

I thought the opposite! Sounded completely oblivious to the needs of his employees from his ivory towers.

"Some people were very impatient and got angry at the smallest delay." - Oh, of course.

Yeah some of the stuff is a bit off, but I do think that they were trying to do right by their employees as much as possible.
