I'm with Wolfy on this one. That guy has always seemed real shady to me.

Yep, sounds like an absolute douche to me.

He's essentially said that they're not paying people on time and that they always have the option of resigning if that bothers them. Seriously, what a twat. Anyone who did leave after he came out with that could get them done for constructive dismissal.

Crytek signs 'huge' licensing deal with mystery firm...

http://www.develop-online.net/news/cryt ... rm/0204382

Speaking to Develop at GDC, Crytek co-founder Faruk Yerli and head of PR Jens Schaefer said rather than securing funding from an investor as many had believed, the injection of money had come from a new licensing deal that it had been working on for a "long time".

Yerli described it as a “huge" deal for Crytek that would put the firm back on track.

The studio co-founder was unable to elaborate on specific details, such as whether it was to do with its powerful development tech CryEngine that has powered the Crysis series and Star Citizen, but said he was hopeful of announcing the deal with its mystery new partner soon.

“A lot of people are under the impression we had to find a new investor or something, but that wasn’t the case. We made a licensing deal,” said Schaefer.

Yerli added: “It was a huge one, probably the biggest one. I can’t say anything more in detail, but hopefully we’ll be able to announce it with the partner soon.”

Looks like the once fair ship Crytek is all set and ready to near capsize once again...

As reported by Kotaku, the situation has grown bad enough that one former employee, an FX artist by the name of Ludviq Lindqvist, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for legal action against the company.

Lindqvist says in his GoFundMe pitch that he was employed at Crytek's Frankfurt HQ from March 2015 to December 2016, but quit on December 8 after going two months without being paid. "Crytek has failed to pay salaries on time starting May 2016. Ever since May this year, salaries have been delayed," he wrote. "Today as I'm creating this GoFundMe campaign, 14th December 2016, it was 58 days since Crytek paid me my September salary. Two whole months have failed to make it to my account. The last salary I got was one month late."

I thought they'd given up making games years ago. A quick check of their Wikipedia shows they've made a couple since Ryse Son of Rome. Perhaps they should have quit and just kept a bare group of staff to cover licencing out their engine.

To be honest, aside from releasing a technical marvel/buggy unoptimised mess in the first Crysis game; nothing they've done at all has been noteworthy since. Sad that people will lose jobs etc. etc. but when a ship is clearly being so poorly mismanaged and steered towards the rocks, maybe it's just the best course of action to let the thing sink.

Wonder if this would affect Star Citizen since they are using the engine.

Doubt it, they would have just bought the license for the engine and will have heavily modified it by now.

Star Citizen uses version 3 of the engine. Think crytek are on version 5 in house. The version being used on SC has apparently been changed by up to 50% according to CIG devs

They raised something like $138 million for the game haven't they? The cunts could buy Crytek with that.

I doubt they have much left over from all the over indulging at CGI Animalmother though.
