White Gold, that's the one Prey used to be very fond of isn't it?

It was the sequel to Boiling Point, which I think was the game most of us remember fondly.
IMO :P  :P  :P

Project High Rise

Got this from this months Humble Bundle. It's been a while since I played a tycoon style game so I thought I would give it a shot. It's pretty good fun. It doesn't really do anything out of the ordinary for a tycoon game. You start with a one story plot which you can fill out with offices or apartments and as you progress you unlock better offices and apartments which will give you more money. You also need to build restaurants and various services in order to keep people happy and some clients have specific requirements regarding where their office or home is built. You also have to supply utilities which start out as just power and phone and slowly ramp up to water then gas and finally cable.

You unlock new levels of the apartments and offices by building up prestige which can be gained from completing tasks set by the council, like having a population of 50. You can have up to two tasks on-going at once which you pick from a list. So if you want you can concentrate on making an office block, a skyscraper just for people to live or a mix of the two. There are various other things that also feed into the prestige which I can't remember right now.

So it follows that classic tycoon cycle of building cheap stuff first, then scaling up to more expensive stuff and replacing the cheap stuff with the more expensive stuff in order to make bigger profits. It's a nice loop and there are enough things to juggle without it becoming overwhelming.

I've only been playing the sandbox mode and it hasn't been that challenging, although I have had to start over once after building up too fast and going down to £350 with a profit of £50 a day, but it's enjoyable enough and you soon get into that tycoon groove.

That's a great deal, just bought it myself. Not sure what the other games are, not sure it matters too much though :)

Anyone bought the FF IX port on Steam? Tempted by the current 50% off sale and never played it, but many of the negative reviews seem to suggest it's a janky port, and if that's true then I probably won't bother.

I've heard a lot of the FF PC ports are not the greatest.

Also FF is crap.
