Very nice Ian :) hope it's enjoyable. You should definitely try out Elite with it. I played it on a mate dev kit 1 years ago and aside from a screen door effect it was amazing. I'm sure it'll be even better now.

Yeah Elite is the main draw I have to say. Beat Sabre, Superhot, Skyrim, Assetto Corsa and ETS2 also on the list :)

Skyrim has been the game I've spent most time in and want to get back into all the time (in VR). To each his own.

I think I've bought Skyrim several times over the years and don't begrudge a penny of it. I loves Bethesda :)

Superhot was pretty brief. Fun. But over too quickly.

You done Beat Sabre yet? It sounds silly but is just so awesome.

Not done anything yet Rustleford, it doesn't arrive until tomorrow :)

I do like the sound of Beat Sabre and it gets rave reviews, plus the ability to mod it to play my music is a big draw :)

Pulled the trigger on a Vive today. Getting it on Friday.
Going to load up on recommended free games from Steam as I'm not putting down money until I know I've got the head for it.

So far: The Lab, Google Earth, Accounting, Waltz of the Wizard, Nvidia Fun house and Rec Room. Was half thinking VR chat as well, but it seems like the wild west version of Rec room filled with the most heinous nerds going.

Whew. What have I gotten myself into?

That is fucking mindblowing. Only played about with some of the free stuff at the moment, but it is just bloody mental how suddenly I am not in my office any more as far as my brain is concerned.

I am really not sure what I expected. I haven't used a VR headset since probably the 80's where you had a headset built into an arcade game where you were in a jet fighter.

The detail and the smoothness of the whole experience bowled me over completely. Then I ended up playing racketball with a random German fella in Rec Room for an hour :D

Superhot VR is an absolute riot :)

And as for the scale of Elite Dangerous, that really is something else.

How're your eyes holding up, Snowy?
Spent more time getting it set up, but when I have used the headset briefly, it's like I'm wearing the wrong prescription glasses. :o

Might have to adjust lenses and such, or try without wearing my glasses. Either way, just in the basic "Valve House" setting, it's a trip!

Theres a little IPD spinner on Vive, fairly easyand quick to do. It should be pretty crystal clear at the centre, your periphery tends to blur a bit just because of physics.

I have to take my glasses off when using my Rift, but then my vision is pretty good without them. You can buy prescription lens inserts (at least for the Rift, not sure about the Vive though I imagine the same option exists for it) if really needed, but I find getting the fit and IPD right, and positioning the headset correctly make a massive difference.

Elite was the first game I tried in VR and it's definitely a good demonstration for how it can improve a game, but DCS World has been the one title I've consistently played using my headset. It elevates the game so much that I just can't imagine playing without it now.

Elite is just mind-buggering. I used to sit looking smugly at my 34" monitor thinking I had it all roses, "Ooh what a massive screen, what a lovely vista to pilot my spaceship by", when actually my view was that of a fucking giant.

Put on the VR headset, and suddenly there is the rest of my pilot's body sat where mine would be if I were in a slinky space-recliner. The cockpit of my Federal Assault Ship is bigger than the room I am actually sitting in. Space stations are unutterably massive. I dropped out of supercruise and went to dock, only to make the journeyman mistake of flying to the wrong side of the dodecohedron and flying around to the correct side, watching this vast structure sail by as I looked to my left out of the cockpit, was magical.

Yeah sure some of the text can be a little hard to read but being able to glance at different screens to access the menus feels such a natural thing to do. Really something else...
