I picked up the rift and a touch controllers last week and it's amaaaaaaaaaaaaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! £800 to make finger guns at other people in multiplayer. Worth every penny.

Bought Eve:V. Seems I cant accept the EULA without an Xbox controller (tried DS4W and Inputmapper) and you need to accept the EULA before you can configure controls. Bloody good show!

Not sure actually. Got it working using 360ce. It's neat, feels amazing flying round a Nyx and a Megathron when you've spent literally weeks of game time seeing them in real Eve. Also didn't feel sick at all which I did after 5mins in Elite. Think I'll still refund it though, don't think I'd play it long term. If there was a proper story campaign yeah but not worth for just mp for me.

EV was a huge disappointment for me, especially given that they said it would have the single player component. I think I was expecting too much from it, given how it was heralded as the best thing ever during those first few years of VR development. It was just way too easy to control your ship, the game had very little depth; I played two or three online games and ended up first or second in all of them. I then went back to DCS.

I'm fine with the ships controlling as they do but MP is just boring after you get past the wow factor. That second mission with the Archons and an Avatar showing up was incredible! More of those type of moments!!

HTC has announced some so add-ons for the Vive, a new 'deluxe' strap with built in headphones which is solid, more like the oculus one. A tracking puck which can be attached to random objects so they can be tracked in VR. Last but not least, a fully working wireless adaptor add-on, uploadvr had an acrobat test it and said they couldn't see any differences from between using wireless and wired

I'm fucking buying the wireless adaptor and new strap.

Wonder if the head strap will be like psvr because that system they have is light years ahead of elastic bands. Tracking pack seems super niche though, probably more for events/installations.

Yeah the tracking thing sounds neat but shit, vr is niche enough without adding on even more niche stuff. It sounds like the strap is more in the style of the oculus one rather than the psvr but it is solid plastic instead of bands and a crank thing at the back of your head to tighten it.

The video review I saw used the 5 hours battery and they said it did last 5 hours. That seems to be plenty.
My house is a building site at the moment but once it's finished I can clear out my tech room and get back into proper VR sessions.

The Zenimax suit against Oculus has ended with Oculus being forced to pay around $500m in damages for NDA violations, a figure that will no doubt be reduced on appeal. However the big allegation that Occulus stole tech developed at Bethesda was dismissed.

The funniest thing to come out of the court case was Carmack Googling how to wipe a hard drive minutes before ordering masses of information be destroyed. You would think someone as tech savvy as him would know how to do something like that.
