The resolution is an improvement, but I doubt it's significant enough to warrant a buy if you already own a headset. Everything else looks like quality of life stuff that the Rift always did better anyway.

The wireless adapter is probably more important. You can buy a third party one for either the Rift or Vive, but initial impressions are that it's a little clunky. I figure the second generation headsets will probably have wireless capability built-in, but it's nice to see it as an option.

It’s such a pity the rifts sensor system is so sucky when they do the headset so right.

Is it not coming with the knuckle controllers? That's a bit odd.

Built by a different company.
HTC do the headset. They buy in the tech for the lighthouses (sensors) and the knuckles, from Valve (I think)

Well yeah I know that, the wands themselves are valves design. I'm just surprised they haven't waited on the knuckles being finalised. Maybe they're still too far out from being ready.

So Skyrim in VR. Despite not being made from the ground up for VR it's the single most beautiful thing I've played in VR so far.

Having spent hundreds of hours in Flatrim (as has been coned to call the pancake version :) ) it's a different game to see these things 'in reality'.

That Azura statue is massive! The Mages guild is ginormous. Dragons are scary. The greybeards live on the biggest mountain ever. Giant spiders are giant spiders, run!
Mammoths are mammoth sized. Giants are quite large too :) Whiterun has some lovely Vistas.
Only played 6 hours and just scratched the surface so far.

I could get a Vive right now. Even if it's just to fanny about in the toy box games, it sounds like really interesting tech.

I don't need it. And yet it sound so cool.

Cex are doing some of the windows headsets real cheap if you don’t mind the possible pinkeye ;) I think the Lenovo one is 170 for a C which you have a two week no quibble return with. It’s no quite a vive but it’s higher rez and it’s close enough on the tracking.

So slight problem with playing Skyrim... I forgot how long I'm standing for. After a bit of a sesh and I take the headset off, I suddenly realise how much my legs are stiff. I've tried conteracting it by actually walking in place and it helps but I kee forgetting to do it.

Still, that's when I have to sit on a stool and just spin round on that badboy instead :) (Not forgetting to reduce the ingame view height to compensate otherwise I can't see over counters or high shelves :)

just spent 2 hours in Trackmania VR and my legs are like jelly. It’s surprisingly great and not as vomity as one would expect. It did make me say Oooooh NO! a few times, like on the first loop or the first wall to wall jump.

Got a little in-work bonus of £250 through their internal rewards system, which I popped onto my Amazon account as I always do. Had a few of these over the years - you get them for recognition of work well done - and I always end up frittering them away on pointless shite. This time I decided to reduce the cost of a Rift to £150 of real money, should be here in a day or so.

Excited.

I’d recommend trying Skyrim either with naughty methods or via steam refunds because I really didn’t enjoy it at all beyond the novelty of “oh that’s a big Dragon”. Also their money grabbing method of release really stinks too.

SuperhotVR on the other hand, oh mama!
