Bought.

How do digital downloads bought from somewhere other than Steam work exactly? Do you download the data from the seller then register, or do they just sell you a code and let steam handle the rest?

As far as I know for Steamworks games they just dish out the code and let Steam handle the rest.

Gamersgate's holiday sale is now on...

http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/giftguide

A couple of stand outs maybe are...

Dark Void Zero - 59p
Tropico 3 - £2.49
Metro 2033 - £3.73
Civ V - £4.99

They are also doing a 4 for 3 deal, a deal of the day and an EA daily deal.

Kings Bounty Platinum for £7.49 is the deal of the day and Sim City 4 Deluxe for £4.98 is the EA one.

I don't think it's Steam.
When you hit the basket there's a £3 extended download service, which will allow you to re-download the game if you lose it.

I'm hoping you download an installer (which I can then keep safe on a protected drive), time to have a nosey and see what you actually get.

Edit: reading the help pages, you download an installer, one to consider purchased I think.

Double edit: gonna try the codes in Origin when I get home, otherwise it's a 2.5MB downloader exe.
