Do they still have them in the US?

Last I saw - and this was a good few years ago, so could be dated now - the US had moved onto smaller cardboard boxes. They're the height and width of a DVD case, but have the depth of two, maybe three. The disc tends to come in a jewel case packaged inside this.

The only possibly useful example I can think of is the original UK release of Neverwinter Nights, which for some reason came in this kind of box.

These boxes are also considerably thicker than the old big ones. I suspect that they use just as much cardboard and were changed purely so more would fit onto one shelf.

I have a few:

R6 Vegas' cover system - no FPS should be without this joyous feature.

R6 Vegas blind-fire system - why poke your head out to get blown off when you can just pop your gun round the corner and blaze away?

F.E.A.R's context sensitive enemy comms and intelligent movement - nuff said.

Crysis' giving you all the toys from the first second of play - not having to wade through tutorial levels or any guff like that, straight in, here are the goodies, enjoy.

GRAW's running slide into cover - once executed forever loved.

Planetside's being a MMOFPS - we need more of these dammit!

Not played it. Was mighty impressed by the original though.

Doubly so, didn't have broadband when it was at it's peak though. Didn't it have subs as well that put a lot of folk off?

The theory of an MMORPG was good, but not basing it around WW2 was stupid.

It did have subs. I think the add-ons and the lack of any tangible way of 'winning' put most people off. I seem to remember it had good netcode though as I vaguely remember playing it on a 56k modem, but I might be mistaken, twas a long time ago.

Netcode was ok, but any large battles usually involved such hideously large amounts of people it didnt matter, lag was inevitable.
IMO :P  :P  :P
