MGS2 was supposed to be a very cinematic game, but it fails in my opinion by having such disjointed gameplay and cutscenes. The ridiculous jerky animation of characters during gameplay and Pac-Man-like AI combined with the super-smooth motion captured cutscenes with super-sexy camera angles.

It's something which doesn't appear to have been removed from MGS4. :x

You know what, I might not even buy it. If Kojima still doesn't feel the need for modern animation, he doesn't deserve my money.

GRAW had that fantastic moment when the embassy suddenly blows sky high as you approach it during mission 3 iirc. In fact it had plenty of awesome cinematic scope come to think of it.

The beginning of the Crysis level 'Assault' is sheer action movie spectacle, as is the mountain crumbling during the tank level (though the level itself had me cursing the developers to hell until I realised you could get out of the tank >_<).

Also, lots of moments from Episode 2 nailed that cinematic atmosphere, chiefly the ending sequence.

Also the bit in BioShock when the submarine explodes as you approach it and Atlas gets all distraught
