Warcraft

Postby Prey » Thu Jun 09, 2016 2:46 pm

Doug Jones' Warcraft movie has broken records in China by opening to a massive $46 Million in single day bringing the films total to date to $121 Million on a budget of $139 Million not including marketing costs. Obviously Warcraft has a huge following in China so this record is far from unexpected.

“Warcraft” is rocking the Chinese box office.

The video game adaptation grossed a massive $46 million on its opening day in the Middle Kingdom. That equals the best non-weekend launch in history, besting previous record-holder “Avengers: Age of Ultron’s” $28.3 million premiere. That number is only through 10 p.m. on Wednesday, so it could grow as late show results are tabulated. Some analysts believe that “Warcraft” could haul $150 million in its first five days of release in China.

Saw it last night, glad I've been playing the game for years as the film cracks on at the start without much explanation.
Happy overall with how the orcs were shown onscreen with the exception of -

Spoiler: show
Garona. A Victorias Secret model with green skin and pristine porcelain teeth and fangs, presumably to make the love interest between her and Lothar more believable than if she looked like Durotans wife. And to fuel the lust of the demographic that still lusts after female belfs in-game. I know she's only half orc/draenai not full orc but still...

Loved Gul'dan. Always had a weakness for villains.
Terry Pratchett wrote:Humans would do anything to see if it was possible. If you put a large switch in a cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

It did pretty well in the UK too, beating out Turtles in the half term week, which is some achievement considering how popular the Turtles are with children at the moment.
