Excellent. I have been waiting for this opportunity to remind everyone that this comes hot off the heels of the director's previous film, MACBETH, also starring Fassbender, which was my favourite film of 2015. ¬_¬

I wouldn't normally see a "computer game film", but if Macbeth is any indication of this director's talents, Assassin's Creed could be promising.

I see that Marion Cotillard, who plays Lady Macbeth in the other film, is also the lead female star in this one. Seems like a winning combination.

Trailer looks all right, but it's a little annoying they're (apparently) not starting with the Crusades.

Not necessarily a bad thing - Ezio was by far the most charismatic protagonist in the series, and the historic roots could be a reveal within the film.

Just, please. For the love of Satan. Look I am begging you here.

Leave the fucking animus and half-baked Da Vinci Code bollocks out of it, as well as that vile snarky Brit wanker

Did you watch the trailer? At least one of those things shows up, though in a weird, unrecognisable form.

Hm. Thinking back to the announcement, it's not so much a re-telling of any of the games, but a side story? Same universe as the games, but a different fella with different ancestors. So, there is a slim, slim, very slim chance someone from the games might make a cameo. :-k

I suspect it will be a "re-imagining" of the whole Assassins Creed universe (in the same fashion as the Hitman films) rather than a tale within the established timeline.

I don't know. Ubi would pay a pretty penny for some of that cross-media action. :-k

I think the real question is if they're going to acknowledge any of that weird ancient human civilisation stuff. Stopped playing the games a while back, but I understand they've been pulling back on the crazier elements of the original story?

I've only ever played the original game. Did they drop that whole "Pieces of Eden" thing then?

No, all that bollocks is alive and well in every single game.

That said, if you have only played the first game, you have a host of cracking games (and a few turds) awaiting you should you wish. AC Brotherhood is awesome, as is Black Flag.

I actually liked that "bollocks" -- at least what I saw of it toward the end of the first game. It got me really excited. I was looking forward to seeing more of it too, but I crashed out of the computer-gaming hobby before the second game came out, so I never found out what happened next. There's no way I'd get back into it all now; I'm too invested in other hobbies and childrearing!

By the third game it was just getting ridiculous. The sci-fi angle really ruined a lot of the story.
