Alien:Covenant? Not out 'till the 12th I think. I'll certainly be queuing for it.

I might go check it out.

Speaking of which, I saw this:

As the only person in the whole world who enjoys Prometheus, I hope they've got more planned than this. :O

Aside from some crazy bonkers plot holes that should never have left the writing desk I really liked it personally. Loved the cinematography and David was an interesting character played well.

Prometheus is one of those movies that I can enjoy on repeat viewings but deep down I know it's quite mediocre. It was a mess of a movie that felt like it had seen too many rewrites or scenes moved around/deleted. Beautifully shot and interesting premise though. Ruined a little by the presence of so many awful characters too. Seeing Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender continue the story in little short vignettes is a cool way of telling the rest of the story whilst leaving out the guff that dragged the actual movie down.

Alien looks good too, tempted to go see it.

Just read a review for Alien:Covenant and it sounds like a pretty dull effort. The first full hour is spent on the ship followed by another half hour of plodding around the planet. All the action and alien stuff appears to be crammed into the short remainder of the film. I suppose it was to be expected after how weak Prometheus was but it's still disappointing :(

I rewatched Prometheus just last night and I honestly think I have a new found appreciation for it now compared to back in 2012. Many are saying Covenant is even better which is fine by me.

Looks like Tom Cruises gamble on The Mummy has backfired spectacularly with the movie set to lose close to $100 Million for Universal Studios. The fact they spent $125 Million on the movie yet $150 Million on marketing the bloody film was just asking for trouble and it's only made back $293 Million in the 10 day opening period completely bombing at the US box office.

Say what you will about the original Mummy trilogy which can never be called the greatest trilogy ever they still had great characters, locations, highly memorable action set pieces and at times even a fairly good script. They were family orientated too unlike Cruise's so called 'Dark Universe' version. Brendan Fraser deserved far more credit for making those movies work than he ever received and yeah I even liked Rob Cohen's third outing truth be told. Fun movies.

Good thing Cruise has Top Gun 2 and new Mission Impossible waiting in the wings because his one time impeccable star power that got bums on seats in theatres is fading fast.
