I find it hard to take any of the Batman films too seriously... it's a man dressed as a bat, after all. I like the Nolan films, and in some ways Bane makes the third film better because he's so overtly ludicrous (the voice, at least) in the midst of so much po-faced silliness pretending to be super serious. I always forget just how funny it is the first time Bane speaks on the plane, which puts me in a good mood for the rest of the upcoming farce.

I would rather watch B&R than the Nolan films again, they're so tedious! Not saying B&R is a better movie but it's a way better watch!

I personally felt Nolan lost the plot during the final third of TDK, which was a complete mess. TDKR was just a continuation of that, but for the entire length of the film. I haven't bothered rewatching it once.

Batman Begins is the only one I've watched repeatedly, and is easily my favourite comic book/superhero film of all time. It's just a perfect piece of storytelling.

My problem was that I respected the first two Nolan Batman films enough that I didn't expect Rises was going to utterly insult my intelligence.

Thinking more on Batman Vs Superman I was reminded that, as maddeningly dull as it was for long, long stretches of time, it had it's moments. Specifically when the film stopped trying to be so self serious and proceeded to go balls out crazy.

Loved the first 2 Nolan films, only watched the 3rd one once. I felt so let down by it I never bothered to watch it again.

Future Batman bit was great, a whole film of that would have been awesome.

I just like Bane's voice and I will never stop randomly saying "MAYBE HE'S WONDERING WHY SOMEONE WOULD *SHOOT* A MAN... BEFORE THROWING HIM OUT OF A PLAAANE."

I still think Batman Returns is hands down the best Batman movie ever made. It's just the absolute perfect mixture of comic booky and serious. It's goofy as hell but also parts of it are seriously dark. Christopher Walken and Danny Devito totally rock it.

I also really liked Bat-fleck too. Pity the rest of that movie was so bad. Looking forward to a dedicated movie just for Affleck.

Logan

That was excellent! There was some contrivances (lowest security top secret project ever!) and they played to the R rating too much early on with having Pat say fuck about 8 times which felt off but minor niggles. Might be the best super hero film, certainly the best in many years.

It's even better when he's made out of LEGO.

Well I went to watch Logan on Kodi yesterday only to find that it was only the trailer

Anyhow, watched some films, which is unusual for me as I don't watch many, so:

Hacksaw Ridge
Really good - I had no idea what the story was going into the film, and it was a pleasant surprise. The effects of war films continue to get more and more terrifying in their (I assume) autheticity. Particularly poignant were the interview snippets at the end of the film from several of the real-life individuals that featured. 9/10

Jack Reacher - Never Go Back
Piss poor casting - I like the Jack Reacher books, the protagonist is a kind of moral Terminator who brutalises his way through the stories, a 6'2" titan, not a bimbling dwarf like Tom Cruise. This is the second weak novel they have chosen to make a film of, definitely weaker than the first.

4/10, passed the time but that's about it.

Batman Vs Superman
Wait, hold on, this is HOW long? So about an hour in, slow and a bit crap thus far but will watch more.

And on Bane, this always makes me laugh so thought I would share:

Not seen that before.

"THIS ISN'T A CAAAAAARRRR!" *Mortal Kombat Theme*

On the topic of the Nolan Batman movies. Watched The Dark Knight again last night. Still damn good.

Will be watching Doctor Strange tonight. No idea what to expect. Just hope it's better than the typical MCU blandness.

Jack Reacher: Never go Back
Balls. Utter, utter balls.
Feels more like a Bourne movie and as such falls flat because terrible everything.

John Wick 2
Loved it, it is just more of the first film again but it's still damn good fun.
