The Raid 2The problem with The Raid 2 is that it succeeded at being more than the first film.
What I liked about the first film is that there's enough plot to get them in and enough plot to get them out. It's a singular, focused experience that's damn near perfect.
The sequel feels like they bolted some hair-raising martial arts on to an alright crime epic. I imagine this would be a treat if you liked those kinds of films, but hard edged Yakuza stories and the like never really got their hooks into me.
It's good, and it has it's great moments, but it's not really for me.

Alright!
Mad Max: Fury Road, The Raid, Dredd, John Wick. It's been a good week. Now, what other modern action classics have I missed?
