Top Gear- Summer 2016, Page 51 onwards

Postby DjchunKfunK » Sun Jun 21, 2009 6:39 pm

New series starts tonight with a challenge Bev will love. A race from London to Edinburgh between the presenters, with James May in a glorious Jaguar XK120, Richard Hammond on a Vincent Black Shadow motorbike and, best of all, Clarkson in blue overalls shovelling coal into the boiler of the Tornado steam train all the way.

Maybe for once Clarkson wont win a race.

Clarkson has said they're revealing The Stig's identity this evening, and it will be a 'staggering surprise'.

Considering it was essentially confirmed as Ben Collins months ago (among many other drivers they've blatantly used for certain challenges), this is purely to bump up the viewing figures... I expect it to be a comedy reveal.

'It was William Hague all along!'. Or something ¬_¬.

Unfortunately I'm having to wait for iPlayer; don't have a TV license (or indeed an aerial for the TV). I'm expecting the Stig reveal to be James May.

Thankfully Bremner Etc was a mixture of old and new clips and I'd seen a lot of it first time round, so sticking with TG - great stuff already.

This is a great episode. Great cars (that black Ferrari did actually look like the Batmobile)

More cars vs trains vs motorbikes though (all lovely - Bike looked awesome)

 @hammond trying to start it
Will debase self for credits.

I thought the Ferrari looked ugly as anything. Loved the steam train though.

Hmm, thought the TV licence covered the use of radio, telly and internet.

Great episode. That steam train was one hellava piece of engineering.

The FXX is indeed awesome, but it's not road legal, so it doesn't deserve to go on that list. One was customised to be road legal (in Germany), but they don't have ground clearance restrictions. But even if FXXs were road legal, it wouldn't get over a speed bump, so according to Top Gear rules it shouldn't go the board.

However, considering how close it is to being road legal, the 1:10 is incredible - only two seconds off the DBR9 - a full FIA GT1 spec race car.
