I fully understand the natural aspect of just how Rey was the basis of a new awakening being discovered/portrayed Raid but that's not to say the way it was handled in this film was done particularly well. It wasn't done well in the prequels through Anakin's character either coming across as heavy handed and utterly forced rather than any form of natural subtle progression.

As I've said I did like Rey as a character for at least the first half of the movie as she was overwhelmingly star struck by unexpected events and pretty much anything outside of the meager and mostly dull existence she'd known previous. That much at least was conveyed very well and I was fully on board for a while. I think the problem was once Finn became more established he more purposely became the newly awakened Jedi character I wanted Rey to be and this was backed up by numerous moments where he really shined both in terms of his actions and his constant encouragement of Rey and other characters that they could not only take all of this on but actually come out the other side.

Somewhere along the way Rey's character although now supposedly fully convinced of her own path just never really convinced me enough to be fully supportive of it. Had there been no Finn that could have been very different.

One of my mates overseas who was with relatives over Xmas is only going to his IMAX for New Year's Day and a local rellie only went Boxing day, it seems to be the event movie that just gets arranged for convenience around all the other Xmas stuff. When the kids are back in school and cinemas won't be packed, 4th Jan onwards is when I'll go a second time but not to the Odeon Leicester Square, I can save that money for the 97SE box set that's selling in droves.

That looks really good. Is the imperial alarm noise the new Inception horn for trailers?

I would love it if they officially recognised Dark Forces at least as the source inspiration. Even if they don't, the fact that it looks like a clear adaptation is good enough for me. The trailer looks really, really great.

I'm going to assume that this won't actually be based on Dark Forces (especially as the capture of the Death Star plans was just the prologue mission, not the main focus of the game), though I did note the similarity between the names of Jan and Jen. I'm really looking forward to the film which looks like it'll be fantastic, but this will be the first piece of established pre-Disney canon that I care about to be overwritten.

So I assume that there will be a new film released each year now?

Wonder if they'll ever make a more gritty (not exactly R rated but 15's) SW film.

50p says there's a character called Korl Kuturn.

Also Ricky Rouse and Monald Muck.
