=D>

I've said it once, I've said it again and now I'll repeat it forever: Best thing about this new Robocop is the attention the original is getting. Still eagerly awaiting the blu-ray and deluxe action figure coming out in the next month. :D

Reviews have begun on RT and the film currently stands at 50% on the RT tomatometer with 5 fresh and 5 rotten...

Fresh:
Taking the original and successfully transplanting it into an ambitious new world, José Padilha's english-language debut is an exciting, pacey and thoughtful sci-fi actioner.

Rotten:
If you find yourself - perhaps under duress - watching José Padilha's Robocop, rest easy in the knowledge that under no circumstances will you end up watching it again.

So it's Marmite? I never saw the original at the cinema either, I'll check the state of my vouchers before thinking about this new one.

Dear lord, Mrs Boots just suggested we go see this as our 'date' on Friday for Valentine's. I've counter-suggested we go watch 12 Years a Slave instead

Having seen 12 years a slave and the Robocop trailers I have to agree with Sly.

That's unfair really. It's watchable at best.
If it was on TV and there were no adverts I might leave it on while I browse the entirety of the internet so when someone asks if they can turn it over, I can say yeah sure.

Saw this on IMDB...

During production of the film, director José Padilha phoned friend and fellow Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles to confide in him his frustration in the lack of creative control he was allowed by the studio for the project. Padilha estimated that for every ten ideas he brought to the project, the studio refused nine, and went on to the describe the making of the film as "The worst experience of [his] life". When word of this conversation became public, in an effort to appease the studio Padilha released counter statements expressing satisfaction with the film.

But don't sit on the fence man, tell us what you really think :D Saw the first one on VHS so can wait for the DVD of this one.

Meanwhile Samuel L Jackson got annoyed at an interviewer and this has to be the non-gaming Youtube video of the year already; the MSN version seemed to cut together the whole rant, whilst on YT you get a bit of the actual interview.

More complete interview

 made me choke with laughter the first time and still laughing now...

That's a bloody stupid mistake to make, especially for an appropriate correspondent.
