Spoiler: show
i might have missed the bit where she learns that face trick but ...yeah, when did she pick that skill up? Last time you see her in bravos she got a terse nod from bloke after barely managing to beat that pouty Edwin and then she's in westeros all big and badass with the face trick. I confused.

Either she spent long enough cutting off faces in Braavos that she now knows how to replicate it herself, so she killed some randomer and pinched her face. Unlikely because I don't see Ayra being willing to kill someone who isn't on her list.

Or she stole a few faces from the Faceless Men before she left.

Either way, who cares anymore what these guys are dreaming up.

Ed: Also, I'm ruling now that we stop using spoilers for every damn post. If you're reading the thread it's reasonable enough to assume that you've watched the most up to date episodes. If you venture in after a Sunday, but you haven't seen it yet and you get upset at being spoiled. Then tough bum, stay out of the thread about GoT you pillock.

I'm pretty sure Tyrion already talked to Denerys about Varaus.

At some point you have to realise this is a TV show and so they have to put things in certain positions in order for the story to make sense to the people watching who haven't read the books. So the stuff with Varaus is where it is so that they can show Dorne and Highgarden being on side before Denerys sets sail.

You can do that by not putting Varys on the boat at the end and having them meet back up on route. He literally traveled to the opposite side of the world and back again. Its fine and well saying "its just a TV show" but you need to have a logic base to not take you out of the experience.

This is the sort of crackpot theory which definitely won't be true but possibly could be (because it's GRRM) and so will rattle around in my head for the next year.

Still not as crackpot as the one which suggests Varys is a mermaid, though.

Exactly the reason why I stayed out of this thread until now. Only just finished season 6 on demand. But I am stuffed if I am going to go back and re-read god knows how many previous pages. Sod that. I will just wing it.

Finally watched it! Got the box-set for the missus for Chrimbo, and binged on it the last few nights.

Have to say that, while saying the same things as you guys at various points throughout the episodes, from a purely entertainment perspective I did enjoy it immensely. Satisfying in a slightly mindless way.

And as Mantis noted earlier, my previous worry that watching the TV series first would ruin the books for me has been allayed somewhat

Yeah they did the books a lot of justice in general. You right up to date with it now then?

It's only really seasons 5 and 6 that stray from the books significantly (and S6 is mostly past the books anyway). They're certainly worth reading, though - there are a few things which the show doesn't touch at all.
