Anyone find the use of music in that last episode pretty horrific? Especially the lead up to the trial, it was so heavy handed and amateur. The GF came to the same conclusion on her own too so it cant just have been me. Decent final ep though, except again the televisual things like...

The Varys thing was so dumb that one has to be a faceless man. They cant be that stupid surely!

While the music itself wasn't bad it did seem a bit out of place alright.

Spoiler: show
That's a good point about Varys, never thought of that.

I'm not following the point about Varys. What's the issue?

His dealings with Dorne are clear in the context of the books, although there is far more at play there.

Spoiler: show
Because it takes the ability of certain characters to teleport between continents to a whole new level. He is in Dorne brokering a deal and then 20 minutes later he's on a ship with Dany. It's reasonable to assume that each scene doesn't necessarily take place within the same time frame, but this was just silly.

Let's also not forget that Varys has never met Dany before. So him being on that ship in the background doesn't make that much sense even if he had been in Meereen already. What happened to the scene where they first meet and Varys has to explain to her why he was sending assassins after her in the first couple of seasons?

It's just lazy writing, again.

Spoiler: show
The problem with the theory that lots of time has passed so he was able to get back to her and they had built an enormous navy, is that Euron Greyjoy is also building an enormous navy to sail to Meereen and propose to her. So given that he said he'd do that about 5 episodes ago, where the hell is he?

Just watched the last bit again. Tyrion is also on the same boat, He'd probably be able to tell if he wasn't the original. Just lazy writing probably

Yeah didn't notice that - that is a bit rubbish. Especially because:

Spoiler: show
she obviously has beef with him for sending assassins after her for ages, even if he did then try and stop them. Sort of. It at least needed a conversation or acknowledgement, rather than the assumption that Tyrion cleared it all up for her and convinced her to let Varys join their superteam.

I don't understand why they put him on the boat. Why not just leave him out of that shot so he can join them properly next season? Makes no sense.

Pretty much.

Spoiler: show
The entire episode again felt really really rushed. People instantly knew about the widlfire destroying the Sept (Olenna & the Sandsnakes). Nobody was angry at all with Cersei. Didn't Jamie return with an army? It was like episode 9. Entertaining, but ultimately vapid. There's just a complete absence of logic in the writing.

just realised how daft that was to say about faceless Varys, they'd need him to be dead to become him so its just shit writing.

Also how did the munchkin get her face disguise? That makes little sense.

I guess she took a few faces before she left Bravos, or maybe just killed someone along the way because why not?
