Fargo Season 3

Very Fargo, very excellent so far (reached ep 7 with the cameo of Mr. Wrench). I do like the idea that all the Fargo stories are loosely connected either by event or character. The stories are great.

Is that streaming all episodes now on prime or Netflix? I watched the 2nd one recently and highly enjoyed it.

All episodes are 'available' which is how I watched it. Very good all round.

Just started watching the Marvel/Netflix collaboration Defenders - I say just started, am already 7 episodes in.

It pulls together the heroes of the previous series: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist. Unfortunately while it is watchable, it is making the mistake of the story being the same mystical martial arts horseshit that ruined Daredevil S2 (and we won't mention the execrable pile of shite that was Iron Fist). Such a shame. It might just be me, but I prefer my villains to be villains with normal understandable motives. They managed it with Kingpin in Daredevil S1, Kilgore in Jessica Jones, and Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, but now seem obsessed with rehashing the same shitty villains propped up with crap ninjas and horseshit pseudo-mysticism.

Does it matter much if you've seen all the various series? I've watched (and loved) all of Jessica Jones, half a season of Daredevil which didn't work well for me and the first episodes of Luke Cage and Iron Fist which both fell absolutely flat. I kind of want to watch Defenders just for more Jessica Jones, but I'm not convinced it'll be worth my time.

It won't matter overmuch buddy, there will be a few minor references that you may not get and characters who you will be unaware of, but nothing that will get in the way.

You should watch season 2 of Daredevil just for the Punisher episodes, which are awesome.

The first half of Daredevil season 2 is the second best thing Marvel have done for Netflix, after Jessica Jones. Unfortunately the second half of the season descends into nonsensical ninja rubbish and is really weak.

The problem I have with Daredevil is that I don't care about any of its characters at all, and I don't care what they do or what boundaries they dare to push. That's the sort of thing that you can half excuse for a pilot (although I was strongly invested in Jessica Jones after the first episode) but not after five or six episodes. There are a tonne of shows I intend to watch and sadly I don't want to spend my time giving shows more chances than they deserve. The only exceptions I've made in recent years for that are Agents of SHIELD, which gets really good after half a season of mediocrity, and Parks and Rec, which has a terrible first season followed by six excellent seasons.

Nah it's kinda how the book is. it doesn't openly state a lot of thing and you're left to work things out yourself. There's a lot of symbolism and dream sequences and stuff. It's not for everyone.

Love the book, but still not got around to watching the series (it's proving somewhat of a tough sell to the missus...)
