Look familiar?

It's the most boring looking car since, well, that.

I assume the image that isn't loading is the HRT F110?

I personally think the C32 looks gorgeous myself :D

It's just so bland; which sponsor required them to paint the entire car grey?

And yes it was.

Not a great start for Lewis, or Mercedes. Let's hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Rear brake failure apparently. Luckily it happened where it did and not somewhere more dangerous.

Steering must have gone as well though as he was moving the wheel, but the car stayed in a straight line.

So I found a copy of Grand Prix: The Killer Years on Vimeo. If you're an F1 fan and you haven't already, watch it. Tonnes of archive footage, discussion from drivers of the era, and the story of how F1 became so much safer. It's a bit of a brutal watch at times, but so, so worth it.

Astonishing really isn't it?!

He burnt in the car. And for the whole race, we could smell burning flesh.

It was especially so to myself. I've grown up with modern F1; I can remember the mid nineties, but didn't really follow the sport properly until 2007. I'd be a liar if I said that crashes in F1 weren't exciting, and they're usually a major talking point, but we all know that there's a very good chance that the driver will just get out of the car and walk away. I remember my heart being in my mouth when Webber's car landed on its top in Valencia two or three years ago. Without modern side-impact structures, Alonso probably would have been beheaded at Spa last year. Can you imagine what would have happened to Massa if that spring had hit him in the face and he'd been wearing a leather racing cap as they did in the fifties?

Also, unrelated good news for Sky viewers, we're not going to have to look at Georgie Thompson's horrible shoulders and listen to her daft questions in the Skypad anymore; she's left!
