Preys World Euro 2012 Competition

Postby katarn » Thu May 24, 2012 7:19 pm

Behold! This thread will contain all upcoming fixtures and deadlines for Euro 2012. I've put the rules and prize list below, in spoiler tags to save some space. Have a look at them when you get a chance. And good luck!

Here are the group tables and knockout stages for you to look at:
-----------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------

Rules and point scoring:
Spoiler: show
IMPORTANT: Any score prediction posts that show as being 'edited' after the deadline can't be accepted.

Points:

1. Tournament prediction:

3 points for each team that finishes in your predicted position (this includes the teams you choose to leave in the group stage).*
1 point bonus for each team that reaches the knockout stages.
4 point bonus for correctly predicting the two finalists.
10 point bonus for correctly predicting the winner.

*To keep things simple, there will be no detailed predictions of group placings (ie, 1st-4th).

Total points available: 70

2. Score predictions for the group stages:

4 points for getting the right result. ('home' win, 'away' win or draw)*
1 point bonus for getting the home team's score.
1 point bonus for getting the away team's score.
1 point bonus for getting the correct difference between the scores.

*Team on the left side of the fixture will always be the 'home' team.

Total points available during group stage predictions: 168

3. Score predictions for the knockout stages

When posting predictions, insert a 'P' next to one team's score to indicate who you feel would win a penalty shootout should it occur.

The score prediction itself includes extra time. So a correct 1-0 prediction can still pocket the maximum 7 points even if it's 0-0 after 90 minutes and the winning goal comes in extra time.

Example: Germany 1 v Italy 2P (here, you're predicting Italy will win before the end of extra time, and would back them to win a penalty shootout if it occurs)

4 points for getting the right result at the end of extra time.
1 point bonus for getting the home team's score.
1 point bonus for getting the away team's score.
1 point bonus for getting the correct difference between the scores.
Penalty shootout bonuses:
3 point bonus for predicting a draw AND the the correct penalty winners.
2 point bonus for predicting the correct overall winner (highest scorer) AND the correct penalty winners.*
1 point bonus for not predicting either of the above but choosing the correct penalty winners.

*This is a fair bonus, since you've overall correctly predicted the team which will progress to the next round.

PLUS: For any prediction which has one or both of the teams scoring, place an 'F' next to one of the scores to signify who scores first. 1 bonus point.

Prize List:

I should probably clarify one thing, just in case there's any misunderstanding; the overall tournament prediction is part of the main competition - not a separate optional thingy. The points will all be added together at the end of the tournament to decide the winners.

When did Russia become part of Europe?

Poland 0 v Greece 2
Russia 1 v Czech Rep 1
Netherlands 2 v Denmark 1
Germany 1 v Portugal 0
Spain 2 v Italy 3
Ireland 0 v Croatia 2
France 4 v England 2
Ukraine 1 v Sweden 2

Czech Republic QF
England QF
France W
Italy F
Germany SF
Portugal SF
Russia QF
Spain QF

England getting to the quarter finals is purely patriotism. France are a better team and we always get beaten by Sweden.
