Premiership and Championship footy 2011/12

Postby DjchunKfunK » Wed Mar 21, 2012 2:28 pm

Some big games tonight with Man City trying to cut the lead to United. We have a chance to take third for the first time this season if we manage to beat Everton and Spurs can't beat Stoke. Big ask as Everton have been class against the top sides at home this season, but I think they may well have one eye on their FA Cup replay.

I've heard it all now. Pulis managed to get out of a driving ban for speeding by claiming that he couldn't use a driver as he needed to carry out phone conversations in private. If he wasn't able to do this he claims that Stoke would suffer, get relegated, and as a result the whole town would be adversely effected as according to him the success of Stoke City has put them on the map and attracted investment. Madness.

Did no-one think to tell him you can't use your phone and drive at the same time?

I forgot about hands-free

It's still dangerous though if you ask me.

Well, since you've just asked me, it's no more dangerous than talking to a passenger and far less dangerous than say, changing a radio channel.

I suspect if he's concentrating so hard on complicated negotiations that threaten the very well being of Stoke itself, it's probably taking up more of his concentration than talking to a passenger imo.

Unless that passenger is an agent involved in a complex negotiation that may threaten the well being of stoke itself?

It's a miracle he stays on the road at all, really.

I think someone needs to tell him he can carry out phone conversations outside a car.

Well that's the losing run finished so I can start watching Match of the Day again without getting hacked off, but Harry can forget the Champ League if Spurs just draw their way to the end of the season. I'm past caring now, as they're going to keep drawing to teams they should beat to the end of the season and the Gunners will go 3rd/into the playoffs unless a miracle happens. The relegation battles are more interesting.

5 defeats in the last 6 now, 8 points won in 2012.

Honestly don't know where we go from here.

I guess you just need to write off this PL season and start thinking of the next one. Whatever happens you've got Europa league next year, so the rest of the league fixtures are sort of dead rubbers now.

Kenny needs to somehow get your boys playing better as a team. From what I've heard they were poor today.

Yeah, pretty poor once again. The only positive for me was blooding a few of our youngsters. Flanagan, 19-year-old RB, did ok, Jonjo Shelvey came on and already looks a better bet than Adam, and 17-year-old Raheem Sterling came on for the last 10 mins and looked lively. I don't think it would weaken the team to play him over Downing. Let them get more experience in the remainder of this season, it can only do us good in the long-term. Whether we finish 6th or 12th (looking likely we'll be in that range), the difference to us is meaningless really.

Eight points clear of Chelsea in 5th now. Just need to keep building and we should finish 3rd this year. Not a bad position considering what happened at the start, but it's still not been a great season.
