Olympics / Athletics Thread

Postby Tommy » Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:56 am

Shouldn't we have some kind of thread for this?

Just watched Michael Phelts qualify for the last 16. Fairly amusing how the commentator was saying how he looked very tired, since he wasn't first, then in the last 50 metres he managed to finish first and set a new Olympic Record. That guy is too good at swimming.

Andy Murray's out too. I think.

Is there any interest at all going round these olympics? I have never felt so much apathy towards such a big event like this myself. Judging from whats on TV etc, it doesnt look much better either heh

I think part of the problem is the time difference...

Isn't it really only when the track and field stuff starts that people really start to pay greater attention other than that we only seem to care about the event if we have a chance of winning a medal.

Personally I am starting to get more interested as I watch more at work.

I like the track and trail cycling, the badminton and sailing. Looking forward to getting home and catching the highlights.

I'm really enjoying it. I just can't wait for the track events, which are the best part of any championships.

China have 9 Gold medals already, and a total of 14 medals

Second place is Korea with 4 gold, total of 8, followed by USA with 3 golds, 12 total.

China are clearly cheating!

Just watched Mixed Doubles Badminton. GB vs China, with GB fighting back to win.

Surprisingly exciting.
I still love you.

Yes, that was awesome to watch. Was on the edge of my seat during the final two points.

I'm in my last week, I have fuck all work to do, my new interns do all my work...

life is sweet. We have a nice 50" plasma upstairs so I spent a couple of hours there when I got in at 8, then watched the badminton from the start. 8)

I watched the first set of the Badminton, it was nothing like how I thought it would be. Half the time I had no idea where the thing was or where it was going, way faster than I thought D=
