The 2008/2009 Premiership/Championship thread

Postby Hikaru Sulu » Mon Jun 16, 2008 9:07 am

It's that time of the year again - the fixture list is out.

Man Utd kick off at home to Newcastle. They're only just out, so they aren't all online yet - only the opening 2 weekends, but I guess they'll be up soon enough.

Where's the league one love?

Leeds have Scunthorpe who got relegated from Championship.

Anyway, Hull seem to have drawn three or four sides early on that they could possibly beat. Liverpool get Man utd three games in, which should be a good match.

Man Utd have quite a tough run in - last 5 games:

Tottenham (h)
Middlesborough (a)
Man City (h)
Arsenal (h)
Hull (a)

Hull and Middlesborough may well be fighting against relegation. Still, it's nice to have the City and Arsenal games at Old Trafford.

In fact, looking at it the second leg of all the big 4 games is at Old Trafford. Slow start, strong finish, perhaps?

Yeah, i hope Hull do well and don't end up like Derby. It will also be interesting to see how Fulham do this season too. They seemed to have really lost it these last two years, i remember when they were finishing top table. When does the transfer window end?

I think it's the end of August. Plenty o'time for United to buy someone. Anyone.

Well, if we trash Man U on the first day it'll raise some eyebrows.

A man can hope.

Aye the prem gets one or two games before the window closes.

(I thought about making this thread what with the advent of the fixtures, but restrained myself as I decided it was too soon. ¬__¬)
I still love you.

Not too soon at all. The season starts in just over a month! Besides, where else would we post exciting discussion about fixtures? Psh.

I claim that the season's not really over till Euro 2008 finishes and the transfer window opens. ¬_¬

It is open, but I agree the Euros should be over before the new season can be anticipated. :P
