Why do we fall? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up.

ok then. Which three teams playing in English football would not be allowed into European competiton though being in top 6 of prem, Carling cup winners or FA cup runners up?

Shouldn't we determine the reason why they wouldn't be allowed? What do the rules say? Stadium size perhaps? Minimum English players?

What on Earth? Why would Aston Villa or Bolton not be allowed into Europe?

I think stadium size is probably the issue.

Or, unlikely though it may seem, could it be Cardiff, Wrexham and Swansea for not in fact being English? That seems like the kind of silly ruling that may have been passed years ago and never changed.

If that's correct perhaps a rephrase of the question is in order?

No, I'm pretty sure Gunner has the wrong end of the stick.

I think the question is, even if the team was in the Premiership and finished top 6, or won either of the cup competitions, or qualified for Europe any other how, they still wouldn't be allowed into the competitions under whatever UEFA ruling.

We have to work out what that ruling is and then which three teams fall short of it.

He says playing in english football not premiership.

So not nesseserly all of the teams need to be in the premiership?
(by my reading)

ie one could have came 6th and not been let in, with the other two being the cup.

There is no minium english players rules, so thats that one out.

I doubt someone would be kicked out due to the ground though, as they would be able to hire out someone elses ground.

and Millwall can play in europe. They got beaten by Ferenvarcos in the UEFA cup qualifiers last season after losing the FA cup final to Man U.
I think Adam was right with the 3 Welsh clubs.

None of them would have finished 6th in the prem though.

Yeah but he doesn't say they're currently in the premiership. He mentions all potential routes into europe bar winning the FA cup (or intertoto). I don't know if that's deliberate, like there's some sort of exception to the rule if they win the FA cup. :?
