I don't know if you're joking or not; there was a pointless touchline scrap in both games. :o

I'll go for Leeds then as they are Northern and about 30 minutes up the M62.

Go on Leeds. Come back up.

We'll be waiting for you, and with a bit of luck, we'll send you back down again.

Following on from the calls of corruption and match fixing a few seasons ago this isn't good for the Italian game.

Why is it always Celtic that clubs have testimonials against?

I was wondering this as well. Gary Kelly, Keane and Shearer, all in about 3 years. What's going on?

Probably because it draws in the crowds as you don't normally see English clubs playing Scottish clubs. Otherwise it would just be like a Premiership match. They could play a lower league club I suppose, but then that wouldn't make for much of a game.

It should really have been Blackburn or Southampton since they're Shearer's former clubs. Maybe since Celtic were playing the Keane testimonial anyway that's why they were picked for Shearer's. It can't be the support issue as they could have filled St james's 10 times over. Hell, i'd have liked to have been there just for the atmosphere.
Good on Celtic for being such good sports and sticking to the script (in the Newcastle game). It put a smile on my face. Does make me wonder why 5 players were withdrawn from international duty (Maloney, Marshall & Mcmanus for Scotland, Petrov for Bulgaria and Nakamura for Japan) to play in a match that ended up as a performance piece though.
I reckon Celtic want to play in England as much as possible to strengthen any chance of joining the Premiership. If they can go down and provide massive travelling support, decent football and all trouble free it must strengthen their case that they'd be an asset to the league.
Not really relevant but i thought it was quite interesting: http://www.roymorgan.com/news/press-releases/2006/490/
It shows that Celtic, Rangers and, suprisingly, Hearts would all add something to the Premiership in terms of support.

Seeing Leeds above Villa in that table is a joy.
