The Gig Thread

Postby Mantis » Wed Nov 12, 2014 4:36 pm

We don't have a music news/spam thread so I'll just stick this here:

http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/news/20 ... rsary-show

Ohhh yeah. May have to attend.

Ed; Made a new thread because why the fuck not. People on here go to gigs, right?

Went to see Animals as Leaders and Tesseract last weekend. AAL are seriously impressive, Abasi has got to be one of the most technically talented players I've ever seen. Seriously heavy music with some amazing grooves too, almost makes you want to dance more than headbang.

Tesseract were similarly excellent. The crowd was absolutely nuts for them, really refreshing to see so many people getting so into it for a change after a string of pretty tame audiences at other gigs.

Just bought tickets for Amon Amarth in January too. Only ever seen them co-headline with Children of Bodom (wank) so pretty excited to finally see a full set from them.

Me and the missus are going to see Hozier at the O2 Academy in Oxford next month. Managed to get 2 tickets in the email pre-pre-sale, can't wait!

Ok, so I've got Behemoth and Decapitated next Wednesday in Glasgow, Machinehead the following week (not that bothered about that one but I'm keeping an open mind) and, finally, the mighty Meshuggah in London on the 20th. Absolutely buzzing,

Thats a pretty tidy run of gigs. Decapitated's new album is very good, reckon they will be pretty good live. Machinehead I reckon will be solid too, although I am in the same boat in that they don't overly excite me.

Meshuggah are always mighty, a pure assault on the senses.

Hopefully seeing Bad Manners on the 17th.

The last gig I went to was Gogol Bordello (who were amazing quite frankly :D)

I saw Decapitated open for Lamb of God in January and they were damn good live. I only know a couple of their tunes but I got pretty excited when I found out that they were Behemoth's support.

Unfortunately, I'll only be in London for one night, otherwise I would've tried to arrange a pint or ten with your good self.

Haha don't feel bad mate, I live about 30 miles south of London, so it would have been a hike for me anyway (albeit less of one!)

Ah, I thought you were closer to London than that. If only I wasn't a pre-sale victim for Devy's Z2 show (there isn't even a support group or anything), we could've caught a few then.

One of these days, fella!

Amon Amarth once again absolutely crush it live. First time I've ever seen them do a full set and holy shit was it good. Also they snuck Last Stand of Frej into the setlist so I was well chuffed with that, it sounds so thunderous live.

We finally got to see Hozier at the O2 Oxford last night: exemplary. What an awesome musician he is, an old soul indeed.

Off to the Purple Turtle in London on Friday to see Ghost Brigade play.

Really looking forward to it, am a big fan of theirs and from what I can see, the venue is tiny.
