Indeed, I second that.

Also what Mantis said, sublime gig. Also in the upper circle, but front row just on the left of the stage.

You weren't far off us then. We were a few rows back on the far left of the stage in the first block. I had a great view of Ryan's beastly drumming but think I would rather have been in the pit. I got a bit screwed over when the tickets went on sale and the VIP instantly sold out.

Still grinning thinking about how good it was though mind. Seriously, Funeral, Bastard and the Death of Music all in a row. It was so intense my arm hairs were chilled for the whole end of the set.

Still get goosebumps from seeing this. Seriously, the last three songs of the second set were pure bliss.

Bought the ubermegapack - I have the same from By A Thread and Retinal Circus, so will keep to my habit of buying the best that Devy puts out.

Preordered my CD/DVD/BluRay combo. Can't wait to hear some of this stuff again.

Is there Blu-Ray only version? I'm really not a fan of live albums. I mean, what's the point if you're not getting the visuals?

Should probably go in the gig thread, but fuck it.

Saw Devin play a solo acoustic set last night at All Saints church in Brighton.

That pretty much sums it up. He did a mix of spoken word and songs from his back catalogue, plus a song about a dog that he made up on the spot. His observations were typically Devin, introspective, thoughtful and often extremely funny. He made a joke about people making requests, shouting out Strapping songs with him replying "Guys it is an acoustic gig...". He then proceeded to start playing a very muted tune that morphed into an acoustic version of Love, cue laughs from around the church!

It was such a weird change, going from seeing him perform to a rapturous and sold out Royal Albert Hall to stood in a small(ish) church in his beanie hat, sweatshirt and glasses with nothing more than a couple of guitars and effects units - a really nice, intimate gig and probably the one I have enjoyed the most, mainly because it felt like he was there just for us, this small select group.

He also complained about how he dislikes singing, while demonstrating his full range from all out roars to falsetto and all points in between - unbelievable stuff.

Anyhow, he got to the end of the set and said that he was happy to hang around and meet everyone individually - everyone. He stayed true to his word too, and although we were near the back of the queue (thanks to my wife taking a very badly timed piss) was still charming, effusive and genuinely happy to meet everyone.

Gig of the year for me, better than the RAH.

I wholeheartedly agree with your summation, Snowy. Just back from the Glasgow show and wow, honestly, just wow! He did an obscenely good version of Deadhead which was rather unexpected.

Got to meet him again afterwards, sober this time. Humble dude, awesome performer.

Am envious, was just brilliant and still reeling from it.

Seeing Opeth this Sunday play their 25th anniversary show at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, and honestly I can't think that it will measure up to the Devin one-man-band show.
