One more special mention before I commit to a top 5 list. :P

THYX - Below the City

While not brilliant like his first album, it was certainly an entertaining future-pop experience, but having a un-ironic song about Left 4 Dead 2 kind of killed it for me.

Survival Instinct

The music is pretty good, but the guest vocals (and video) by that Ray Koefoed bloke are embarrassing.

No 5: Sodom - Epitome of Torture

No 4: Front Line Assembly - Echogenetic

No 3: Carcass - Surgical Steel

No 2: Satyricon - Satyricon

No 1: VNV Nation - Transnational

These are all awesome albums, but Transnational is just so, so awesome. It's rare that I'll listen to something and it hooks me right away, that my head is suddenly in the right space and I'm really into the music. This was one of those moments. The whole way through my first listen, I was in music heaven.

Finally, these two came in too late for the list:

Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse

Control Human Delete - The Prime Mover

Given more time, these two might have made it onto the list. I know Sodom is barely hanging in there are 5.
