Burberry Knight wrote:Absolutely adore Meshuggah. Their tracks often to involve repeated listens to properly sink in. I really like Koloss, it's a more accessible record than their others I'd say, mostly because the tracks are a bit more subdued and to the point for them. Each to their own though.
Maybe I should check out their older stuff? My interest in the album picks up alongside the tempo.

Edit: New page? More music!

New Sodom album out later this month. So, here, some still rather potent proto-black metal.

Aye, they have a fairly varied discography once you start to get into their particular brand of heavy.

I'd recommend Chaosphere for some utterly relentless, frantic metal, and Obzen for some incredibly technical rhythms to fry your brain!

Edit: A couple of choice picks.

I try to keep up with your slighlty darker themed stuff than I'm used to but it would appear (froma bit of googling) that adobe flash player no longer works with Chrome. Thus I can't see or hear the video links anymore :(

Hey, videos are back! :D

Allow me to confuse and horrify with some more rad power metal that I've found. It's potent cheese!

And to whip me out of the flowery stupor...

New Anaal Nathrakh single:

Fuck me. And I wondered if they could ever got more epic or intense.
Was that a key change? Yes! Yes!

New Album Release Day! Not often three disks I'm excited for come out at the same time. :o

Inquisition - Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith
Sodom - Decision Day
Twilight Force - Heroes of Mighty Magic

Been listening to the new Sodom this morning. It's very solid! Not sure where it shakes out in their discography, but I've been having fun with it, for whatever that's worth. Yet to quite latch on to any songs in particular, but there's some really cool moments here and there.

Rolling Thunder slays, though. I can say that with confidence. I'm also digging the "acoustic" breakdown before unleashing thrash madness from Belligerence. Image

New Meshuggah album on the 9th October - The Violent Sleep of Reason:

Quick heads up, the new Devin album is floating on YT. Listened to half of it and love it so far. A mix of just about all of it but very spacey and progressive in places. Search the song "Higher" if you want the metally bits. Failure sounded a bit odd as a single but in the album's context works wonderfully.

Edit: Oh, before I forget, any OSI fans in the house? Worth a look if you like your guitars crunchy, Jim Matheos of Fate's Warning:

New Meshuggah track is excellent. Think I'll wait for the DTP one to release before listening. I'll likely fail at holding out though...

Can't blame you, I failed at holding out.

Forgot to mention, new Opeth!

Still no growling, but I'm personally not bothered by that. Sounds like a dirtier, heavier Heritage. Also the vocals sometimes cuts off leading me to believe it may be a longer song? Maybe, maybe not.

Was honest with myself and admitted that Meshuggah are not for me. Gave them a shake and it didn't pan out. :?

Not sure why I feel so apologetic about it, but sorry.

This morning was spent listening to the new Twilight force.
The "chiptune" remix they included on the bonus CD more than justifies the purchase. Couldn't believe it when I heard those chunky C64-esque synths on what had been, up till then, a Rhapsody styled massive, cinematic sounding power metal album. That's kind of what you've got here, Rhapsody but with the pretentiousness and lack of irony replaced with rousing, uplifting vibes.

No idea how they pulled it off, either. Considering their first album was leaning more towards the anthemic speed metal side of the genre, this is the kind of jump you'd expect from a long established band.
Well, I'm not complaining. We need more fun oriented fantasy metal. :)

(Couldn't find the remix, so the proper version of the song will have to do.)

Yes, they've got an half-elf rogue on guitars. :D

So I went with the leak of the new Devin album.

I cannot wait to get a FLAC version of this.
