Discovered Fighting Fantasy for real in 2013 when me and the wife took our boys to the library one day. I had known about the series well before that time, but never read them. They were never a "thing" at my school, sadly. Nor was D&D. TRAGIC!
Anyway, at the library I saw The Warlock of Firetop Mountain on the shelf. I was just about to turn 30 and I thought "Oh, that book! It's about time I got into these before I get too old!" So I borrowed the book. It was the summer time and work was very quiet. I spent all of that August sitting a quiet storeroom, drinking large lattes and exploring Firetop Mountain. I spent ages going around in circles in the labyrinth before realising I had somehow taken a wrong turning and had to start all over. It was so much fun, though!
I've read a number of the books now, having collected all of the reprinted ones written by the original authors, Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. Ian Livingstone's books are my favourite in the series.
