Recently finished The Walking Dead: Compendium 2 (issues 49-96)

I've really enjoyed these, and I'm now pretty much up to date with the story. Not sure whether to start reading it bit-by-bit from now on or just wait for the next compendium.

I love how it stays so grounded in reality - the problems the characters face aren't outlandish at all. (Apart from the zombie thing). And the characters are pretty much all great and well developed.

Perhaps the Governor was a little too 'cartoonish mega-villain!' in the first compedium but apart from that it all holds together nicely.

I'd say get compilation 17 out of the library so you've crossed over the anniversary. Collection 18 isn't out until bloody June, I'm not bothering to buy any more comics if fans outside of America are made to wait for the start and end of the TV series. If you don't care about it that much then we'll probably get another UK paperback compendium in however long it takes to get to issue 150.

As sure as night follows day there's going to be a third official Walking Dead novel, out as of 10th October. The subtitle "Fall of The Governor" just tells you they will milk that character one last time, but it's the same length as the first novel. So hopefully it's not "best of series 3" and we get something different this time.

Comics wise they might make UK fans wait until Xmas for compilation 19.

Typical - Order the Fall of The Governor novel on your kindle and you can have all of it right now but it's some crazy price like £19.

Otherwise in print, part 1 is out now, part 2 is March 2014 in hardback. So like the last comic collection, that's a library job if it's more expansion over old ground.
