The Zombie Books Thread

Postby tester02 » Wed Apr 18, 2007 10:44 am

I've just started reading this, so I'm not very far into it, and so far it seems like a darned good read. The events of a fictional (like, obv) world wide zombie outbreak told in the past tense through eyewitness accounts and interviews, from the initial infections right up to the recovery of civilization.

Zombies are excellent and the idea of a world war involving them is even more excellent.

Anyone else read it?

Yeah finished it the other week. Good read and a interesting way of putting a story across.
I went into the gas station, said, "Fill 'er up, Harry."
The guy said, "Regular?"
I said, "No, put on a gorrila suit and dance like a fairy."

Cheers Boggy. Just ordered this from Amazon and it has positive reviews there also.

Not my normal style of book but sounds good.

I'm trying not to spoil Diary of The Dead for myself and so far have watched the original and both cuts of the remake of Dawn- and expect to watch every other major Zombie flick before the new one arrives.

I was about to order Shaun and the cinema cut of Dawn on DVD, but I think I'll pick up this book instead, I was introduced to Romero's stuff through the book version of Dawn since I was too young to watch it, so it would be good to go back to reading about the creatures rather than watching or playing a game.

I'm having a Zombie phase too after playing Zombie Panic Source. Watched Land of the Dead last night. I liked it because it gave an unusual perspective on a zombie apocalypse and what could happen as time went by.

Not read WWZ but the zombie zurvival guide was a good read, actually seemed to be quite realistic. Though it probably wouldn't be much use against fast zombies a la 28 Days Later.

Bought the book and can't wait for it, now Diary of the Dead has been watched and is all about the DVD Extras later.

The Survival Guide though, I'm not so bothered about, that can be bought from a marketplace trader if I'm desparate for it.

FFSJH, 28 Days Later IS NOT ZOMBIES, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland have both stated it multiple times and Mark Kermode brings it up every they have a zombie discussion. They are INFECTED PEOPLE. The only zombie film I know of with fast zombies is the remake of Dawn, which I think is shite regardless of how fast the zombies move, but others like it.

It's arrived! \o/ but I'll finish the Mark Billingham that I'm reading first and probably dedicate Easter weekend to reading WWZ properly.

This book is top, I was just reading it on the train and bus and I nearly missed my stop twice, I haven't had another book hook me quite this quickly, so now I'm going to read it much more slowly so I can really enjoy it.

Good pimpin' Boggy :) and everyone else who read it before him...

This book has been pimped since the beginning of time by various people. Boggy is but the latest incarnation of the prophet of Zom.

Finally got my copy from Nethlyn, the damn thing just isn't anywhere down here.

Fan-bloody-tastic and well worth the wait. I made it through half of it the night I got it, then slowed down to spread it out to 6 days. The best Non-Pratchett book I've read for a long time.
