George R R Martins - A Song of Ice and Fire

Postby Feet » Tue May 31, 2005 9:12 am

http://www.georgerrmartin.com/

Go there and click "About a feast for Crows". Read.

Then click Sample and read the sample chapter.

Then go and read the first 3 parts in preperation for getting your greasy mits on the next part of this epic story.

Please for Pete's sake, read A Song of Ice and Fire (the name of the series), it really is very very good and I am terribly excited about reading more into this fabulously realised and brutal world Martin has created.

Ready. Steady. GO!

EDIT: Seriously though, Gibby should star in the movie of these books, they were made for him.

I have read them, and loved every word.

Can't wait for the next two, both of which are released this year.

No problem.

I have been trawling the bookshops, as the first of the 2 (Dance with Dragons I think) should have been released on the 31st, but so far no joy.

He will have to introduce some new characters - I couldn't believe the death-toll in the last book!

I'm going to buy the first one right now...as soon as I can find it. Damn I'm confused. Whats the first one called? I think it's possibly "A Game Of Thrones", but I'm not sure.

Edit: ok now I'm pretty sure thats the first book, at least I hope it is.

Edit2: Ok it was obvious I'm sure now.

Blacksteel I am very jealous. You are in for such a treat. If only I could 'unread' them myself just so that I could enjoy them at that level again....

Yes! I always want to do this with Fight Club, because I watched the film before reading the book, and want to experience the twist in the book without knowing what happens. Maybe I'll just wait 'til I have alzheimer's and can't remember anything.

Now I'm just getting very excited about it...I hope it lives up to the brilliance I have read about it, here and elsewhere.

oh yeah, you're REALLY in for a treat, man. Astonishingly well written series of books, especially volume three, when it all kicks off.

best thing about them is, none of the characters are safe. Several main players were wiped in A Storm of Swords.

There's a few dozen of them, man! Not as if the book follows the trials and tribulations of just a few characters.
