I've been pondering this and I'm going to make a prediction: Daenerys will win the Iron Throne, and the victorious Unsullied will be sent to man the wall. Won't be hard for them to keep the vows!

I've seen one fan theory about something and it's pretty good so I'll post it. It's not a spoiler as, obviously, no-one but GRRM knows at the moment.

Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Him and Daeny will end up getting married (in true incestuous Targaryen stylee) and ruling Westeros.

I think it's a pretty cool theory. The kicker is that he obviously doesn't have the white hair, but then you're never explicitly told it's like the telltale Baratheon black hair that always comes through.
My face is tired.

Yeah I've heard that theory and it's a good one. I think it's pretty solid that Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son, but I'm not sure if that'll lead to him and Dany getting married. If they do, it'll be out of duty and not love.

I get the feeling that even if Dany wins and defeats the Others she won't sit the Iron throne. She doesn't really want it, she's going to take it out of duty but I think maybe she'll step down in favour of someone else. She only really wants the house with the red door.

Definitely think Jon is being set up to rule, though.

He'll probably be killed off in book 6 now I've said that

Fuck ya all! Tyrion for the throne! :)

The Jon bits in book annoy the crap outta me, just comes across petulant and sulky and irritating to me.

OK here's my total prediction:

    Tyrion will inherit Casterly Rock
    Rickon will get Winterfell
Unsullied will shore up the Wall, joining the Night's Watch.
Dany and/or Jon will sit the Iron Throne (probably just being known as King Jon the Bastard, which will be hilarious).
Samwell will become his Maester, will still be training, or will be the Maester of Castle Black.
Littlefinger will either die, end up with nothing and back at the Fingers, or end up with nothing and exiled.
Jorah will either die for Dany or end up back where he started on his shitty island.
Varys will stay exactly where he is
Stannis will die, Gendry will get Storm's End.
Davos will either spend his days trading on ships or get something significant like Dragonstone.
Pyke will just end up back at square one with a different lord.
House Bolton will be wiped out.
House Frey will be wiped out or diminished significantly
Highgarden and Dorn will stay as is, and both major houses will just be back where they started.

I finished the last one a few days ago. I don't think I can wait till next year for Winds of Winter. That ending...

I know!

At least if he was Stephen King or Terry Pratchett you'd know he'd be churning out a book every year, but potentially waiting for the best part of the next decade to get to the end of the 7th book is agony.

Martin has written an end of year blog post of guff to basically say that he's missed all his deadlines and it's highly unlikely Winds of Winter will be out within the foreseeable future. And on the topic of season 6 of the show spoiling things for the next book, he said maybe it will or maybe it won't. There's an interesting synopsis of all the different characters that have either died on the show or been excluded entirely which does highlight just how far it has diverged from the source material so far though; it brings back memories of various story arcs which are far superior to what they've put out in the show.

I really want this book to come out. :(

I'd rather it not be rushed out. The TV series doesn't have to run to the books necessarily though it's obviously better if it follows it fairly closely with the major storylines.

Pretty much what every commenter on his page has said - take your time and do it right - in 50 years the TV series will be forgotten so make the books all they can be.
