Vermintide 2

Postby Snowy » Sat Mar 17, 2018 10:04 am

So I see a bunch of us on here have this little gore-extravaganza, shall we see if we can get a co-op session in over this weekend?

Maybe not :)

I have had some fun with this, they have managed to really nail the feeling of melee (or at least in my brain, not that I have any actual experience barring a few excitable mosh-pits!), and it is really visceral too. The levels are more open than the first, and the ability to specialise characters is a nice idea although I don't really get the level grind element. L4D worked just fine giving you all the toys within a story, and this is L4D in Warhammer, so...

Some of the bosses are bloody evil too. They can take a hell of a kicking to put down.

Still a lot of fun though - no takers for some co-op?

I was planning on skipping this one. For all its focus on melee combat the original didn't really feel like it had any real physicality to it.

That's fair enough Dave. There is certainly a greater feel of physicality to this one, although you still have the issue of player models being able to be walked through. While this prevents bottlenecking and from just getting surrounded by hordes. it does detract to feeling like you are there. Nonetheless, the maps are still a lot of fun, and nowhere near as brutal as the last game where a victory was a rare beastie (at least for me).

However, we have a good few forumites own it - Zael, WMain, Quietman, DJ - surprised nobody is up for getting some comms up and having a session.

I mean, only one of those is really active at the moment mate, and haven't even seen Dj around for a while. You might be better off dropping them a message through Steam rather than wait for one to spot it on the forum...

It makes me a little sad how many PW members are on Steam right now (either signed in or recently) but don't post here at all any more. :(

I guess it's inevitable to some degree (I have less spare time to spend foruming myself) but still, would be nice for them to pop in occasionally.

State of the forum, etc...

Yeah, it's all a bit quiet now, which is a shame.

It kinda sucks. This place has meant so much to me over the years, a lot of my online history was spent here I guess, plus I've got to know tons of likeminded people.

But, we're down to our final handful of active members now.

EDIT: Sorry Snowy for putting a downer on your thread.

I have mostly been playing with my friends so far.

Part of the reason I don't post much on here is because there isn't much interaction which is I think a lot down to the way forums work. I much prefer stuff like Slack now for this kind of thing. It's more conducive to conversations and it is a lot easier to start discussions because you don't have to post a whole new topic. It doesn't matter if you just post a few lines. Yeah it's a shame there is no archive, but I like it a lot more as a way of talking to people over the internet than a forum.

Thing is the fewer people who post, the less discussion there is to be had, which means less people posting and the whole thing quickly spirals. I've seen it happen with another forum for LFC supporters I posted on for about a decade, reached a point where there was me and two other lads still posting and one day we basically gave up and moved on.

If people want to preserve this as somewhere they can go and chat with broadly like-minded people about the games they're enjoying, it's kind of everyone's responsibility to post and keep it going. Not trying to fling accusations around, that's just the way these things go and I one for one think it would be a shame if this community dwindled past the point of no return.

When Kingdom Come came out that thread was busy for weeks, same with the Star Wars movie thread. It just depends what's out and about I suppose. The place can be hopping some weeks and then no new posts for days at a time.

Post it and they will come..eventually.
