Five free sets of new 'DLC' coming out all right up to the end of the year...

Endless Siege is a fortress-defending scenarios that pits players against Sauron's forces amid the Endless Siege, while Rebellion has you taking rebel Ologs and Uruks to task. Moreover, Enhanced Photo Mode lets you "capture every battle and siege and apply new filters, frames and textures", whereas Online Fight Pits has you challenging other players' Orcs followers in a gladiator-style duel to the death. A new 'Brutal' difficulty ups the stakes—more challenging than Nemesis, "with no last chances."

I'm still playing but as always have become distracted by something else meaning my play time has lessened so I've only just hit 50 hours and entered the third map. My son however is close to hitting 100 hours and is spanking his way through it still.

I have put this to one side while I play through Asscreed Origins. Lvl 37 of 40 on that now though and killed what I believe will be the penultimate baddie, so the ending is in sight and I will soon be back to being called a Tark and slaughtering my way across Mordor.

I have tended to take breaks from playing it perhaps a week at a time or more and then within moments of firing it up again I'm instantly caught up in once more. I'm currently level 25 and have hit the 30% completed mark and only now completed my first fortress take over which I must admit felt pretty damn awesome especially considering I'm playing on Nemesis so I only have myself to blame for much of the frustration I often undertake when playing - but y'know I love the challenge and the rewards when you do complete something are great too and I'm still fairly low level compared to my son who is now level 54. Speaking of my son he keeps coming to look at my progress and laughing his arse off as I keep feeling a bit overwhelmed by much of the game so when he sees my load outs and setup he mocks me saying I don't know what I'm doing. Erm need I remind anyone we are talking about the same guy who spent years playing WoW only to never use any of his points in all that time.

Anyways I just got this bad boy after having my sword broken by this absolute cock sack and then having to complete a death threat on him to get it back albeit at a higher level than before so as you can guess I was extremely satisfied with both taking him out and what I received for my level...

So yeah Shadow of War is a bit of a slow burner at times that both burns you out and drags you back in but it's also so superior to the original to say just how exactly would require more words than I could be arsed to type. I know some of the first free release DLC downloaded too which is always nice.

Finally managed to take over my first proper fortress and killed off a level 30 odd Legendary twatter who had cursed my game for far too long because the guy was enraged by everything ever and was so impossibly fast when he was enraged I barely stood a chance until I went in there with my own Legendary dude as backup and kicked his sorry ugly ass. Yay! To say this guy was a monster wouldn't do him justice as he could take on almost everything I threw at him.

This was taken during my first attempt which went fantastic right up until the very end...

The actually successful assault I did was at 194 assault force level with half of what I used in the first try so it just goes to show that it all comes down to how you handle yourself in the all important final battle. Using pin and overtaking all the archers above both for health and allies really helped matters. To say thank you for the great assist and pretty much taking down half of the cunts health I made my follower an Overlord and he is now sitting pretty way up there. I was rewarded with 600 gold and thus used it to bag myself a few new Legendary guys including a giant who dwarfs all other characters in my army. I wish I were better at names as this would then all sound a fair bit cooler than it does.

Still only level 31 right now but taking over your first proper fortress especially from someone you lost to so many times feels like fucking bliss.

Picked this up again now I have completed AssCreed.

Took a while to get back into my rhythm of it but I have done so now. However, think I may have a problem.

I am level 36. The boss of the Gorgoroth fortress is lvl 40. I know from my time that bosses that are higher level than you can take an absolute age to beat, and the two or three preceding fortress takeovers have been the weakest bits of the game so far due to your being locked in the throne room with the boss and his minions. Going toe to toe hasn't really been an option so chipping away at the boss before getting room to drain their followers for health regain and chipping away again, running and hiding in the inevitable balconies where necessary. Anyhow, suffice to say I ain't going near Mr Gorgoroth until I am on a level footing, pun intended.

But this means I have four levels of grind to deal with. The last four at that. I have a small number of missions and elf memories scattered about, but if they don't close the gap, I can see myself quitting.

Time will tell.

I use those balconies to increase my might by killing the archers that spawn on them. Jump down run after said boss and perform execution move on them (f). It takes a while but it works. I killed the one in sereghost like this and he was 6 levels on me. I find riding around a stunned olog is good also for thinning out the annoying minions. Jump off and whale away on the boss get a few good ground executions on them.

Oh yeah they are doable but I find them the least enjoyable element. Plus had a scrap with a guy who was level 38 to my 36 last night and even out in the open it took me an age.

Ok guys, how about we all show our currently used set of gear? Here's all mine at my current 32 level...

And my currently undefeated pit fighter Ur-Edin The Giant...

I've put him into both Maggot and Warrior fights and so far he's utterly decimated his opponents as many have been vulnerable to his fire weapon and overall strength but I'm genuinely scared to try him in the Champion pit for fear of losing him. You know how it is.

I don't understand the legendary gear. The stuff I've picked up is really low level and even the white normal level stuff is much much better. Does this stuff not improve?

Most of the legendary gear takes the conversion of a level 40 of a specific tribe to upgrade. I use it while it is the best but it soon gets shelved for a rare or epic that gives better abilities.

Here you go anyhow Dave, gear porn:

Phwoar that dagger is sex Ian. WANT.

Does anyone else not wish that Talion had access to helmet gear like me? I mean some of the helmets you see enemies wearing are just so beautiful and creatively designed I always feel like I'm kinda missing out on not having to choose from some of my own.
