The first was one of the best SP FPSes for a good 10 years. Well, except for maybe DOOM. Loved it.

Polygon review, apparently contains a spoiler in the first paragraph so be careful.

I've played the first hour and its absolutely sublime. I want to say more but it would spoil it.

It also runs beautifully as well. I'm on everything at its highest in 1080 and I am at a constant 100+ FPS.

I was going to wait until this was cheaper due to how short the last game was, but I didn't ¬_¬

I'm about four hours in and it is really good. The combat is fast and brutal, you have less health than in previous games and enemies do a lot of damage. So far there has been two "boss" fights but I found you could just run past them which was nice, and the bullet sponges from the previous games have been toned down so you can play the game at an almost Doom like sprint rather than as a cover shooter - unless it changes near the end like TNO did. My only criticism is the story, the cut scenes are longer and more numerous than TNO and Sassy L. Jackson can fuck right off. BJ's back story and character have been developed more than in any of the previous games and unless there is a plot twist later I don't think it is for the better. In fact most of the characters from previous games have changed for example

Spoiler: show
Why is Angry Black Lady such a cunt to everyone and why do they just backdown and accept her as leader immediately despite never displaying a single moment of intelligence aside from pulling some plot out of her arse? As far as I can tell she and her gang of Not Black Panthers have been hiding for over a decade and doing very little apart from whinging about whitey keeping them down. Which moron decided she was the best to lead a group of guerillas on a nuclear submarine?

It also runs really well on my computer which is just about at recommended specs. (FX-8350 4ghz, GTX 970, 8gb RAM)

About ten more minutes of playing triggered the plot twist, which was accompanied by a vertical difficulty spike. ¬_¬ No idea how much story is left but the game is definitely longer than TNO if you include the side missions.

Finished, took about ten hours although I only did a couple of assassination missions which can be completed after the story.

Spoiler: show
The ending is shit though.

Looks like the game is down in terms of physical sales...

This looks like another disappointing result for the publisher, which has had a number of difficult launches in the past 12 months. Wolfenstein II's week one sales are 60% lower than what it predecessor managed in 2014, although that game did arrive on more platforms (360 and PS3), and then there's the expected increase in downloading to consider, too. Again, PS4 accounted for 60% of Wolfenstein II sales, whereas Xbox One made up 34% of the total (the rest coming on PC)."

Once again I can't help but think the game has been released at the wrong time right before CoD returns back to its original roots.

It deserves so much more tbh, it's absolutely brilliant. I get all sorts of Fear/Doom vibes playing it.
