What's wrong with Battle.net/Blizzard Launcher? Why would you not get it on that if you would Steam? and how does that make it an after-thought?

EDIT: also I can forgive Mike Morhaime for calling it Bnet when its been that for almost his entire adult life :P

I use blizzard launcher a lot due to playing (well, actaully just cancelled) World Of Warcraft, Diablo 3 and just recently, due to free stuff, Heroes of the Storm. If I get this, it'll just be another game.

I was kind of looking forward to this but that trailer didn't stir me like I hoped. Maybe the gunplay will be fun though.
I did see recently that there's an interface that allows people to play console with keyboard and mouse... now that I could get behind :)

They've been around for years, it's not like a PC. Probably more accurate and fast than a controller but don't expect it to feel like PC.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just putting it on a less visible platform and at a later date does make it feel like Activision are not that bothered about the PC version.

I watched a gameplay video of this and it looks like the enemies are even bigger bullet sponges than Borderlands 2. I think I'll give it a miss.

This has been announced for October 24th, I believe.

Don't own a console so didn't play the first, but something makes me curious to check this out. Is it likely to be any good? Does it work as a single-player experience or do you only really get part-value from playing it that way?

If it's anything like the first game the shooting will be top notch and there will probably be enough fun stuff to do to justify the price, don't expect anything amazing though. Destiny was a decent game and Destiny 2 looks like being the same. It can all be played solo with Strikes having matchmaking and even the Raids getting matchmaking of a sort this time.

It's very bullet spongey, and the writing/story was utterly atrocious. The only real reason to play it is if you like loot hoarding games. It's effectively a more serious and less interesting Borderlands.

Not really seen enough of the sequel yet to know whether it will be any different, but the first one had solid basic gameplay that was let down but a great deal of other things.

The PC coverage of Destiny 2 is weird. I've read a number of articles marvelling at the combat, talking about it as if they had never heard anything about the game before. The moment to moment feel in Destiny was never the issue it was the stuff around it, so I find it weird to see articles praising the sequel for doing something the original was already doing. It's no great surprise that the combat in Destiny 2 feels great.

Guessing you've read the RPS piece, then? :)

TBF the guy writing it said that he never played the first game except the demo, so he wouldn't have knowledge of the bigger picture stuff... though why they'd ask someone with no experience of the first game to write an impressions piece for the second, I don't know.

I'm still looking on with some interest, though, particularly if it can be played as a proper single-player experience.

Great combat means little if the actual representative gameplay its tacked on to doesn't deliver and that's precisely the problem the first game had with its poor mission structure and rinse and repeat nature that slowly drove people away from the game. Lack of content. Lack of interest. Yes lesson were learned somewhat with the release of The Taken King but nothing I've seen of Destiny 2 as yet is any form of marked improvement over the first. I don't think Bungie are yet aware that PC gamers are a much more expectant bunch and if a game isn't offering something they can actually sink their teeth into and isn't more than just a shiny shoot fest it will die a quick and systematic death on the platform. I mean come on Titanfall 2 IMO is a more layered game than Destiny and that's barely hanging on right now on PC sadly not even the free DLC is bringing the player numbers up on that one. EA were fucking stupid to release the game when they did and it has never grown since.

Every Destiny 2 video so far concentrates entirely on visual fidelity and hardly any barely go into any facts concerning what they have done to address the actual drawbacks that the original game suffered from on so many levels. They just seem to assume if it looks nice and runs well PC owners will thrive to it like bees to honey and remain attached to it for hundreds of hours afterwards. No Bungie, they won't. Graphics might be the initial enticement PC gamers crave just to see how it runs on their systems but once that is accomplished you had better pull a lot more out of the bag to keep them actually playing.

I expect they won't really care that much about appealing to the PC crowd. The sales will be a drop in the ocean compared to how many console copies they will shift and the game is already well established in that market. More of the same with a few quality of life changes will probably be enough to meet their sales targets.
