I think the comments about it playing like CoD are off base, it is a different shooting experience and one that is superior in my opinion. The original game has it's issues and I'm sure Destiny 2 will as well, but it has some merits and Taken King was a good loot shooter which was much improved if you could play it with friends. I expect at least that from the sequel with improvements in terms of story.

Definitely not on a par with World Of Warcraft bosses that take weeks of prep and solid tactics and timing.

A strike is more like a 5 man dungeon than a Raid.

I'm really more of a lovable buffoon than five people co-ordinating to take down terrible monstrosities.

What gets my goat the most concerning what I've experienced in this so far is just how ripe the maps are for actual exploration especially the included strike map which is as large as it is beautiful. I played an instance of it last night with two random guys and instead of just pushing through to reach the terribly designed and boring as hell end boss we just went off in our own direction to see just where the map would allow us to go that you weren't really intended to. To our surprise we ended up miles away from the objective climbing our way up to areas that you wouldn't have even guessed were there that had all manner of animated sections going on we even found an invisible bridge through trial and error that took us right over to another island type area which was also fully explorable. It just genuinely seems like such a waste of so much time and effort in favour of reaching a rather disappointing finale.

I mean why put so much effort into crafting this at times unbelievably well structured map only for so much of it to go unnoticed and unexplored in favour of ending up in a circle attacking a dull as dishwater enemy boss? Because the intended game structure says so. The campaign mission is so linear in nature I'm left wondering if Destiny 2 will even involve any form of allowed exploration as even if so they have included absolutely nothing to purposely make you want to explore in the levels anyhow as there's nothing to actually collect as any type of reward if you do. But I wanna expl...Just stick to the fight. Just let me loo...Stick to the fight. But I might find something coo...I SAID STICK TO THE FUCKING FIGHT GOD DAMMIT!

Ok Bungie. You win. :(

(Before anyone chirps in that this isn't what the Destiny experience is all about ala it isn't Far Cry I've not played any of the original Destiny campaign and as such don't know how the game is actually structured in terms of adventuring/collectables).

It's a dungeon, therefore it's linear. There'll be an open world to explore outside of the instances. Think of it as an MMO.

But you didn't answer my primary question Phil. Is there any kind of pay off for exploring areas?

Last I played Destiny there were hidden chests and I think sometimes unique enemies that could drop loot. I don't know about Destiny 2 though.

Alright man thanks that's something at least. No reason why they shouldn't be in the sequel I guess.

The first game didn't really have anything substantial hidden away, but Bungie have talked about the open areas having more content in them.

Did the campaign bit.
Did the strike 3 times.
Uninstalled.

I've seen enough to not want to play the same Strike over and over.
After DOOM and Warframe the movement is incredibly and painfully slow.

What was pleasing was how well it ran. It seems remarkably well optimised (unless they've fixed the FPS counter at 60 for beta ;)

Based on the few hours I spent on it, it's just another FPS shooter that doesn't break any moulds. Competent, but I can see it getting dull fairly quick.
Borderlands by another name....

It's 100% not fixed at 60.

Also how can it be "just another FPS shooter by another name" when there has been only one other game series with a similar premise :P and that last had a release 3 years ago!
