I'd not even thought about this game since trying the trial the first time, until now. It's not terribly memorable, is it?

Wait, they've locked stuff off that was previously available? That is pretty unheard of, nobody has ever actively stripped content out of a game to make it form part of the season pass.

There must be more to it than that, because if it were that simple then the internet protests would have torches and pitchforks out big time.

Edit: Oh wait, turns out they did this with Destiny 1 too and there's already a small storm brewing on Reddit.

My understanding is that they've not so much stripped the content as raised the level requirement for that content (content that is supposed to be end-game stuff), and you can only gain the levels required if you have the new expansion.

It's no less a shitty thing to do; usually these MMO types add new raids rather than moving the cap on existing stuff.

Yeah it's common practice for Destiny, however this is the first time they have also locked a gun off as you need to finish the Prestige Nightfall to unlock some shotgun.

Some people have managed to get a refund for the game from Microsoft as by locking off this content you can no longer get the full achievement points for the game which is against Microsoft's terms of service.

It's a hole I shall be sidestepping letting them dwell alone.

Regardless of the semantics around this, it's absolutely ridiculous. This game hasn't been out for very long on PC and now players are being funneled into buying expansion packs to access content that they used to be able to play with the base game.

People are absolute fucking mugs for accepting this kind of stuff so willingly.

Bungie is gearing up to make what sounds like a big Destiny 2 announcement ahead of E3 2018. The studio announced today that its Year 2 livestream will take place on Tuesday, June 5. The stream, which you'll be able to watch on Twitch and here on GameSpot, begins at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

The reveal event will offer a first look at what Bungie has lined up for Destiny 2's second year. This includes "some big ideas for how we're going to transform your Guardian lifestyle and reinforce your hobby as an interplanetary hero."

A so called industry insider has come out and stated that not only are Bungie set to sell the Destiny IP to Activision before the end of the year so as they can get out of their current contract but they are also now set to start on a an entirely new IP under the wing of a new chinese publisher who they have signed up with in a $100 million deal. Vic Visions who worked on the Warmind DLC are set to take over developmental duties completely although it has been said that Bungie themselves have been activiely working on Destiny 3 since October 2017.

If Activision do take full control of the IP then it surely is about as dead as it can possibly be. Expect yearly releases via multiple studios and the a huge ramp up in their MTX incentives.

Out saying the leak is false but then again they have been totally two faced about a lot of statements recently.

Anyone want a key for Destiny 2? pm me as I have one spare from humble bundle and have no interest in this type of game.

Well the Forsaken expansion sounds a bit naff. Just a regurgitation of ideas from Destiny 1. Loot rolls are back PvP will permanently become 6v6, Iron Banner and the Spire will have loot scalling once more and they are doing away with the weapon slots so you will be able to use whichever weapons you want.

It's all rather uninspiring and if you compare it to what they claimed it would be before they announcement it feels even worse. Taken King was about reinventing the game and making it better, this is just taking the game backwards and very much feels like pandering to the very hardcore.

Wouldn't it be the hardcore left playing it and more than likely the whales of the community? I don't know the figures of how many has left so just taking a guess about it.

The hardcore are the ones left playing yes, but Activision don't just want the hardcore to buy this expansion. Previously the second year of a Destiny game has been used to reinvigorate the game and bring in new people and get players to return. This time is just appears to be pandering to the hardcore who, lets be honest, were going to buy it anyway.
