I guess he appeals with that Older English guy with strangely harsh opinions on things-vibe that's prevalent on here. ;)

Oh, and I thought that I was near the end of the game. Haha... there's more!

Hahaha I can't think what you mean ;)

I find him a bit hit and miss to be honest, although he can be quite funny on occasion. In all honesty I was looking at the game on the steam pages and one of the quoted reviews said "Definitely worth a buy" which made me think of him, and then I saw he had a review up so watched some of it.

Might get it on a sale at some point as I always thought Resident Evil could work better as FPS. But then the scary parts of the older games was the battling the controls and trying to get away to fight back. So not really sure on it.

The VR side of it interests a lot more and seems to be the better way to play it as well.

Apparently it really is quite an excellent experience with the VR version.

For those who don't want to spoil anything, here are the reasons he gives:
1) It doesn't make you sick as a pig like so many other VR games do.
2) It feels incredibly immersive and the general atmosphere of the setting is fantastic.
3) It's absolutely terrifying. It may use a lot of jump scares but it's still quite capable of making you shit bricks.
4) The PSVR (not sure about PC versions) is calibrated so that it senses when you lean forwards and tilt your head, so you can literally peak around corners to see what's waiting for you. Adds a lot to the immersion and tension.
5) You can aim just by looking at your target, no more dodgy controls trying to aim with a thumbstick. Apparently it feels much more authentic to line up your sights using the headset and blast away like that.
6) The sound design. Combined with the VR it really contributes to overall immersion.
7) It proves that Triple A experiences can be made for VR.

Not 300+ quid good, though. Hell of an expensive add-on for one game.
Plus you can't use the PSVR with a PC, right? So without any options for wacky open source stuff, what's the point?

Presumably there will be a PC VR version at some point? Or is there already one available? A fair few on the forum already have Oculus Rift's or Vives, so this would be a dead cert if it were compatible.

I'll pick up a PSVR eventually, I don't generally like being an early adopter of new tech because by the time all the good games start coming out there's usually a better/cheaper version of it available.

Also, how many people are paying £300+ for a console just to play Zelda next month? :P

Ah, yeah. I think it's just a timed exclusive till it hits PC headsets.
Still too rich. At least a Switch is one off purchase. This is a 350 on top of a 350 (plus game, move controllers and PS camera)

Don't get me wrong, it sounds like an awesome way to play the game. I'm just being salty because it all costs so damn much.

The VR mode is a timed exclusive for a year.

Very poorly judged imo - in a year the game will be irrelevant. If you have managed to make a genuinely top-drawer VR experience, why on earth limit your sales by such an amount given the relatively niche market for VR? Give it 3 months exclusivity, that would do fine and let you gain additional sales while the game is still relevant.

I think it's a case of Sony basically paying to have the VR mode made. Capcom are really struggling financial so if Sony hadn't put up the money I don't think we would see a VR mode at all.

I'm not sure how much the timed exclusivity really matters. The install base of VR users on PC is so tiny it probably makes very little material difference to their overall sales figures if those users hold off on a purchase.

Good on Sony if they actually financed the whole thing too. They need to keep pushing PSVR so that people realise you can play real AAA titles on it. Success for VR is going to come from it reaching the masses on console I think.
