Red Dead Redemption 2. Fall 2017 PS4/XOne

Postby Prey » Sun Oct 16, 2016 4:45 pm

Rockstar just blew up Twitter by posting an image of its logo over a red background, leading many to reasonably assume that a new Red Dead will shortly be announced, or that a remaster of Redemption is on the way.

Probably going to be a remaster. Everyone is doing it.

I remember buying RDR for my 360 and being distinctly underwhelmed by it all. Not saying it's a bad game per se it's just a far cry from the shining gaming beacon many of those excited about a possible announcement would have you believe it is. The mission structure was tedious, the world empty and I don't believe I played more than maybe 5-6 hours of it in total before it turned me off completely.

GUN while technically inferior was a much better gaming experience.

What was that more recent western based game that was pretty good? The one with the shooting from the hip duel mini game thing

Call of Juarez or one of its sequels is probably what you're thinking of, Jez.

Yeah that's the one. I didn't finish it due to "stuff" or whatever but I liked what I'd played.

I personally think a game telling a story like Good, Bad and Ugly would be a fantastic thing. Love that film personally so I'm biased but you get the idea. I think the western genre has been under loved in the gaming world.

I am kinda the same, I remember it being a bit of a drag but I didn't get far in either.

I finished it but found the whole game to be a slog. I loved the atmosphere it created but too many of the missions were a really mediocre 'travel here, kill this, travel back' format. The gunplay wasn't great either, especially on horseback.

One of those games that I booted up more just to ride around and take in the scenery than actually push on with.

I can never understand the reason why RDR is so beloved. The setting is really well done, but at the same time it was often a boring game to play.

I would say the same for GTA4. GTA5 was a large improvement, so I there's every chance a RDR2 would be also.

RDR is shit. So much tedium and feeling like you're wasting your life away playing it.
Gunslinger, on the other hand, is the shit.

Also Gun was fantastic at the time.

Gunslinger was indeed great as was the original Red Dead.

On Rockstar I haven't enjoyed one of their games since Vice City. I haven't played 5, but everything else whilst feeling polished felt behind the times in terms of gameplay. I'm also incredibly tired of their humour, it hasn't changed since the original games and has just stopped being funny.
