Well I woke up this morning all set to try out the game only to find like many others out there that non SSE4.1/4.2 CPUs are once again not supported so the game won't even launch. Before anyone starts saying "well what did you expect??" the min specs for this game according to Ubisoft themselves are exactly the same as AC Syndicate and I could launch that game and play it at a pretty decent 30fps plus it's not that different to GR Wildlands which everyone knows I could not only run but run extremely well. Of course it was always a 50/50 gamble on my part and this time sadly it didn't pay off.

Sorry chaps no insights from me then, looks like I will be getting a refund. Can't say I'm not gutted as this was the one game I've been waiting all year to play. Oh well.

What a ballache mate, really sorry to hear that :(

I am on the fence, I have a free weekend with the wife away which could tease my wallet loose - lets see how it goes. The price still puts me off.

EDIT: Man my resolve is pathetic. I remembered that today is payday, and also used 100 Ubiloadofoldbollocks coins that I have an abundance of to chip 20% off the asking price. Report to follow, PW Canary reporting for duty. My report will be written with due feeling for Dave, what an almighty shag to not get to play something you have waited so long for!

I'm sadly very used to it.

Looking forward to seeing what you think of it now Ian. I understand it's a hefty price tag to pay but knowing your interest was already partially piqued anyway it's no real biggie I'm sure. All it does now is free up something else for me to buy - if it runs.

Dave, when are you next due a mobo/cpu upgrade? Probably best to get an Intel next time.

That's a few games now where you've been scuppered.

I think it's more like a possum. Plays dead whenever it feels threatened until Prey leaves it alone.

Whenever a big game comes out, I'm just urging his PC to have a bit of backbone.

So very early impressions then. Played about 90 minutes or so.

1. It’s pretty. Despite my rig getting on a bit and a generation behind the latest hardware it runs between 30-45 FPS on ultra settings and is nice and stable. This at 3440x1440 too.

2. It doesn’t feel like an AssCreed game. The combat changes things up quite a bit, the map is fucking vast, it feels like an open world game but doesn’t have an AssCreed vibe - feels more like an RPG than anything else so far. Except...

3. It’s a bit buggy. Nothing serious on the Unity scale, but I have spied a scorpion climbing up a sheer face of air, a camel with its head happily pushed through a rock face, and a cart glitching on scenery and being catapulted back like a rocket prior to trying (and catapulting) again.

Funny bugs aside, looks good so far.
