Battlefield 1 - Out Now

Postby Prey » Sun Dec 13, 2015 6:30 pm

A new entry in the Battlefield series is now in the works at DICE, according to development director Dan Vaderlind.

In a post on Twitter, Vaderlind announced that he's moved on from Star Wars Battlefront to begin work on the next Battlefield.

Hmmmm

If it's even remotely more of the same I'll be be avoiding it. I remember the whole hoo-Haa dice made of their "levolution" thing and it sounded very interesting but in truth it was just a gimmick that didn't do an awful lot on the majority of maps.

Having said that I do fancy a few rounds of bf just now. Shame I uninstalled it long ago.

Buying Battlefield 4 taught me one thing, and that is that I don't enjoy playing Battlefield games by myself, and so I'll be avoiding it.

I'm well in the mood for a new BF because of Battlefront. Actually keep looking at Hardline and knowing its too late for that community I still think "maybeeeeee". Levelution needs to fuck off though.

Can we place bets on what the new buzz word will be for it?

Installed BF4 again last friday. I quite enjoyed it, more than I had previously but without the expansions I can't find many games to join online.

I'd be interested in BF5 if it wasn't looking to add too much nonsense to the game. Just refine and fix the problems with the previous games. Concentrate on creating great maps, enhancing team play and gun play and I'd definitely buy it.

I wish I shared your optimism.

After the shocking state BF4 was released in (and has stayed in for nearly another year), the baffling release of Hardline and the anorexic Battlefront I find myself unable to trust them to do anything correctly (or ethically for that matter).

My experience of BF4's release was, a I've said a million times elsewhere, completely without issue, Hardliners was a bit meh but they at least found some inventive game modes to tie in to the cops and robbers theme, and as "anorexic" as battlefront was, it's a million percent better than battlefront 2 was :P

My only real problem with hardline was the attack choppers and apcs. If it had only had vehicles for transport it might have become my favourite BF.

It would be nice this time if they didn't go so hard out of their way to divide and dilute the player base so much across differing modes like hardcore/normal etc etc. There is only one way to play this game and that's hardcore leave it at that eh.

Battlefield 5 has been spotted on German online retailer World of Games, listed for release in October. Most notable is the single line of description that reads "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg" - in English, a World War 1 tactical shooter. While generally release dates listed in this manner are inaccurate estimations made by the company itself, details rarely are, and may indicate an upcoming announcement.
