Yeah only played it today - It's... ok? Definitely more Modern Warfare than Black Ops 2 unfortunately, but it seems a bit less super whizzy jumpy than that. The specialisations are... eh? I mean they're nice and all but most don't [really do anything special, except for Overwatch (thats the characters name) who has a ping that lights up players so you can see them through walls for about 2 seconds. So of course everyone plays her (she also gets a one shot kill bow weapon... so even more people play her). It's a shame really as I was hoping for something a bit more like Dirty Bomb in terms of "classes" I guess, but that was never going to be the case.

I recommend giving it a play though, it can be quite fun and the maps are pretty decent. There are some odd bugs though - there's something in the game that doesn't like my GPU or computer in general but occasionally I get the odd "freeze" for a second or so. It's not entirely consistent nor is it seemingly triggered by a specific effect (and it's not the GPU overheating as I can play FC4/BF4 with supersampling at high without it freaking out) so that's annoying...
IMO :P  :P  :P

Played it for a few hours and it felt better than the last Modern Warfare. I even started to use the wall running technique a bit which was fun but largely unnecessary if they tweak the level designs a bit.
The run and gun vibe was similar to blops 2 which I spent an insane amount of time playing (according to Steam) so playing the beta has rekindled my love and I'll probably end up buying it.

Not a fan of the unlock system though. It appears to 2 fold. You level up and gain 'access' to unlocks but then have to level up more to gain unlock credits to actually use the new stuff. So I ended up with lots of shiny stuff which I couldn't use.
Also they messed up the position of the chat window as it gets blocked by the leaderboard so you can only see the first few words of anything that's typed. Also, like blops2, the time window to actually type anthing is ridiculously small so trying to 'gg' the game or type a comment has to be done in seconds and I can't type fast enough :) however there does now seem to be a lobby chat window so that sort of overcomes that shortfall.

So this is out on Friday, anyone else picking it up? If it helps sway anyone Treyarch are talking about allowing unranked mod servers and of providing mapping tools :O

What year is this?!

Not played a Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 3. Should just stop altogether but, fuck it, I'm in the mood for some really over the top corridor shooting.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy a COD game nowadays unless they were really into the mulitplayer.

They are just too formulaic and they never come down much in price to justify playing through the formula. admittedly I enjoy the MP generally though I haven't played any since the third outing.

The third Call of Duty? The third Modern Warfare? The third in the Treyarch series?

It's been a good few years since I played a CoD campaign. I'm ready for it again. Multiple characters, who will survive (and what will be left of them)? What heinous plot twist is the villain concocting? Just how brutal is the inevitable shock sequence going to be? How many US flags will be flown patriotically while unfitting music plays? It's a Treyarch game, so how many times will to look someone in the eye while stabbing and/or mutilating them?

That alone will be a good time. If the rest of the stuff that's in these games is any good, it might be a keeper. :-k

The first modern warfare. Was that the third one in the franchise????

See it's all so fucked up and dilute I can't recall where it's at when I played it.

Fourth Call of Duty, first Modern Warfare. Call of Duty 3 was it's own entity and the first Treyarch game, but not the first in their grand story arc, which started with World at War and continues through the Black Ops series.

Actually, I need to do some research and see if CoD3 has any ties to other games.

You see, I kind of give a crap about the story lines in the Call of Duty games. Probably the last person on earth who does. :P

I thoroughly enjoyed the first BlOps SP campaign. I would revisit, but the price on Steam refuses to drop in any significant way :(

The 1980's levels in Blops 2 were pretty enjoyable, the futuristic stuff not so much. Hated utterly the MP side of it.
